Kentucky has played Ga Tech 19 times, but the last time was in 1960
Tech leads all time series 11-7-1
Tech is 4-1 against SEC in last three seasons, only loss was to Georgia in 2015, has two wins over UGA (both in Athens), a blow out over Vandy this year, and clobbered Miss State in the 2014 Orange Bowl.
Tech was an SEC member for decades, dropped out in 1964, but do not know exactly why.
Gator has been a NYD bowl game for last 20 years up until 2016 when it will be played on Dec 31, as a lead in to the Peach Bowl and Fiesta Bowl playoffs.
Kentucky had a Gator Bowl bid offered in 1965 after 8 games (when there were many fewer bowl games) but turned it down thinking that if they won their last two, they would get a Cotton Bowl bid. Unfortunately (just like Louisville this season), they lost at Houston in an upset, and star QB Rick Norton got hurt as well. The last game of the season, Tennessee won easily and Kentucky did not get to go to a bowl that season.
