Yes because expecting a true freshman to lead a team while spending barely top 50 on the roster while also spending top 15 on the head coach, while pandering to his dad and retaining his uncle at the most important position of need is a recipe for success. Dylan was statistically the best freshman/sophomore qb in NU history, and lead us to two bowl games in his 1.5 years. He jumped ship to be a backup and take a lot less money without his uncle and dad around so I don't buy that he even wanted them at NU.

Wait a minute... you don't buy that he even wanted his dad and Uncle at NU?? Did I just read that correctly? Lol. Wow. The kid is presumed by EVERYONE to have come with strings attached regarding money, demands, and especially his uncle and dad, and now you act like that was Nebraska's fault that we had such a bad "recipe" for the poor kid.

Anyway - to those of us who actually watched the video attached to this thread - these 2 guys in the video said almost identically what I said in the other thread last week. The kid is a backup QB and no one is looking for him to pop off about cornfields or his former team. No one. You're a backup QB, come in, zip it shut and play hard. But noooo....

It shows he's immature and not a 5-star leader as these two guys affirm what most of us already understood about the kid: Million dollar arm in camps, to go along with a 10-cent brain, ego, legs, belly and leadership.

Imagine getting a 5 star qb from Minnesota, a kid with a 70% completion, and a 3 to 1 TD/INT ratio....you wouldn't want to hear why he left a starting job, and millions of dollars on the table? This is standard fair..it is a media setup to get Oregon, the new team to sound good, and make the old team look good. It would be stupid if he didn't do it. Same thing happened with Florida State last year...exactly. Nebraska sucks, the environment around Lincoln sucks...the team and coach sucks. What else is he supposed to say?

Here's what he should say: Nothing.

That's the point that you fail to understand. Say NOTHING for once in your life kid. You're not some hot shot anymore, you are a backup. Zip it and put in the work.

And you never did explain how you think the kid didn't want his dad or uncle at NU. Dude, that's just crazy talk right there.

If you don’t think the only reason Dylan came to Lincoln was because of Dom and Donnie was on staff ? You ate a fkn retard that needs help.

You've thrown out Raiola's completion percentage quite a bit. And I get it, it is impressive BUT (per AI) Raiola did rank 123rd nationally (approx. 6.2 air yards) in air yards per attempt. He relied heavily on short, quick & safe throws and we saw how much he struggled with the deep ball.

Not all his fault, but to me, it makes the completion percentage a little less impressive.

Not by a huge margin over Adrain Martinez. Especially when you consider rushing stats, as you should when talking college QBs.

Nothing you said takes away from anything that the original link states: "When you recruit a 5 star quarterback, it doesn't mean you're getting a 5 star leader."
While your assertion that he didn't want his dad and uncle at NU is (in my opinion) blatantly false, the 2 statements could both be true at the same time.
I think most people, including the staff and fans, think we are better off without him this year. You can have a different opinion, but time will tell.
I won't call you a retard for disagreeing with me, because only a dick who can't handle someone disagreeing with them would be dumb enough to say that.

What made him a 5 star? Certainly not mobility or leadership. He has a strongish arm but, throws a terrible deep ball. He's pretty accurate on certain routes and short throws but likes to hold the ball too long, I guess the accuracy is enough?

Hairstyle, warm up mannerisms, huddle discipline, team outings participation rate among other factors.

I think if you compare him to Lagway and Sayin, The other 5 stars, he falls in the middle. Much better than Lagway in a similar situation, worse than Sayin in a much worse situation. I think he met expectations of a 5 star coming to Nebraska under Matt Rhule, which is why no 5 star qb should ever come to Nebraska under Matt Rhule, ever. He had 31 tds, nearly 5000 yards passing and a 70% completion % with two OCs and the worst pass protection in the conference, in a conference known for getting to the qb.

Dylan is not a "leader" because he walks around funny and does goofy stuff according to fans, but most of that is because he rejected us. If he was to come back for the same money and dedicated himself to winning at NU everybody here would love him and actually think we could beat teams like Illinois or Washington. People even thought we would be better off without Wandale and were butthurt because he suddenly turned into an all-american.

He ended up dropping to a 4 star I believe. Not that it matters in this conversation just a note.

A week ago there wasn't a person on this board who honestly thought we would be good, now after some fluff pieces our oline is going to be the best under Rhule(isn't saying much) and our new RBs are going to be awesome, and our new qb is so much better than what we had because he is so mature, and our rb room is so good that they had to kick one of them off the team...this board isn't very complex mentally. At least how they manifest on this board.

we are approaching last call for Kewlaide ---people know better but they just can't help themselves.

FWIW: Nebraska DOES have some good talent on this team------coaching? ..........not so much.

Talent= Top 3 round draft pick in the NFL
Nebraska has zero of those on the roster as far as I can tell.
Number of draft picks period from the last 10 years puts us at the bottom of the very much larger than 10 big 10. And our talent hasn't improved at all.
Even our best class in a decade for next year might barely break the top 20.

I've let the Raiola saga pass. Maybe it's old age and (finally) being a little more mellow and smart, but I just can't get into bagging on a 20-year old college kid. Yes, I know, he makes a lot of money, but he's just a clueless college Duffus, just like we all were at that age (don't try to pretend otherwise).

I've re-read his statements regarding his time at Nebraska and can't get worked up about them. For one thing, he didn't say anything inaccurate -- Nebraska has corn, Oregon has mountains, and Oregon has more talent. All true. He made a special point to mention his ongoing friendships with guys in Lincoln. It's just not a big deal.

Could he have handled it better? Sure; perhaps it would have been best to say nothing or the vanilla "I enjoyed my time there but it was time to move on." But, again, he's a college kid. How many of us were under the same type of scrutiny at that age? How many of us said the "right thing" every time we opened our yaps?

Bottom line: he didn't win enough games for the team we cheer for. For grown adults to bag on him as "immature" strikes me as a lot more immature than him. Just one guy's opinion.

He might want to remember what grandma told most of us “if you can’t say somethin nice it might be best to say nothin at all”. His PR guy probably winced when he saw his quote. I’m over it too. He needs to be above and smarter than the average social media poster.

His sister is his PR person. Seriously doubt his quotes were offensive to any of the Raiola clan .

Think about exhausting it must be for Dylan have carry around his uncle, his sister, and his less talented brother. All latching onto him on the hope that he will be special enough to carry them. And then your PR sister lets you get criticized by the CFB world in general, and not just Nebraska fans, for your public comments. And your uncle caused harm to your development and broke your leg. Can’t wait to see how little bro trips him up.
