So, W2B is really Black Label Wildcat who I thought died of brain cancer years ago. Interesting.

To the OP, you sound like a smart kid, you'll get those two points. Also Morehead grad here, nice quiet place to go to school.

I'm confused... are they really handing out money on a "first come, first serve" basis, instead of based off merit/need? Is this new? I don't remember "get on when the ball drops" being a thing when I graduated (which, granted, was 12 years ago).

Not really. But the FAFSA is, obviously, just need based. And while not technically first come first serve you can miss out if you wait too long because there is a limited amount of money to give out.

Yes, but on a very limited basis. There was a little state money available for private school students. It was based on need but since the fund was limited, it went to the first students who qualified based on fafsa...not necessarily the most needy.

As one of those that didn't get a bunch of free money when I was in college 40 years ago...I'd be in favor of eliminating ALL free money. All kids should be treated the same; no college "welfare". Make everything student loans that don't have to be repaid provided the kid graduates.

Not if he is smart and not lazy. There is money out there to be had along with working your way through college. Grants, scholarships, etc.....one of my sons has been in college now since he graduated high school. He is 33 and is a professional student. Me and his mother helped out the first 2 years and since then he has done it himself through loans, grants, etc....He works at an Apple store after classes and on the weekends and now is paying his loans off plus paying for other classes. There is no need for anyone else to pay for his schooling or this other kids in this thread. Get off of your lazy *** and do it yourself.

Unlikely some kid fresh out of hs is gonna work his way through college. He might work while he's in college, but long gone are the days of being able to pay for it as he goes.

Berea is free for everyone, they just have mandatory work study.
