The ref either blew it or was protecting LSU. Same as last year.
Yes, terrible flag by the ref. He hadn't lowered his arms, but he had stepped behind the punter and out of his field of view, so the punter assumed that meant the play was good to go. Beamer was screaming in the refs face that he had stepped behind the punter so how was he to know he hadn't lowered his arms yet.
SEC refs, when it comes to us against LSU, just make it up as they go along.
I suppose. The announcers thought it was absurd to expect the punter to have to turn around and see when the ref lowered his arms.

Yeah he did. If they call it right the score is 17-0 Auburn just before half, and that most likely changes the outcome
The unfortunate reality is that there's no way to rectify it. We got very obviously screwed on that call. It was something I've never seen in all my years of watching football. At most the SEC will issue some boilerplate statement in response.
This is why I say if we're cursed with having instant replay, then it should to apply to EVERY play, EVERY call.

Its rarely the head umpire that delays the snap. Another official watches for his indication to get out of the way. Once they do you can snap the ball. If I remember correctly the head umpire was in the way which is already incorrect. Its my opinion they jacked it up and will get a wimpy apology from the conference.
