I’m not really into bourbon straight up (more of a scotch guy), but I really enjoy the basil Hayden dark rye (which I’m sure makes a bourbon purist want to gag) so I always have a bottle of that handy.

But this weekend we went apple picking and I picked up some fresh apple cider and made some great fall drinks. Mixed some apple cider, apple maple syrup, woodford, and some lemon and was phenomenal. Usually have woodford or knob creek around as I think bourbon cocktails are the best.

Powers Irish Whiskey. Didn’t think I would like it but it’s pretty good with some ice and water.

Liquor Barn and Total Wine has had them.

4R Kroger OBSK was damn good.

I got and EHT Barrel Proof last week, haven’t opened yet but others I’ve had from 2020 were really good.

Got lucky and grabbed a King of Kentucky, plus picked up a “September Derby" 375ml Blanton's at Buffalo Trace, which I flipped for a Rock Hill Farms.

Have had a good summer/pre fall run:

Blanton's total wine store pick
Eagle Rare total wine store pick
3-4 bottles of eagle rare
2 bottles of Blantons
EH Taylor
EC store pick
EC Toasted Barrel
OWA 107
Several WSR
Makers distillery exclusive 2020 bottle
Several buffalo trace store picks
1792 full single barrel
EC Barrel Proof A120 batch

I am in the store pretty much every day though. Work is slow with COVID so I can stop in. Also helps I live 2 min from TW LG. Absolutely worship bourbon tastings with a crew of friends.

Crushed a bottle of Elijah Craig Toasted barrel over the weekend. Pretty smooth and a little sweet at times for me, rather have the spice and proof level of other bourbons.

I’ve been going back over and over again to Russells Reserve Lbarn Single Barrels. Quite A few different barrels coming and going out of there. 110 proof. NCF. 9/10 years old. Worth the money.

I had the chance to try the Old Forester 150th anniversary batches Sunday. All three batches were amazing, but batch 1 was phenomenal.

I found mine at a small store in TN a few weeks back. This store charges over MSRP for anything rare which I don't normally go for but it was still under secondary at $129 so I decided to pull the trigger.

Found mine at a store I partner with for barrel picks.

Nice to have that in where he just calls me when trucks come in so I don’t have the issues of being there the minute it rolls in.

Where/how you fellas getting the EH Taylor BP?
Highly overrated. I have one and it’s hot and thin. Not oily and savory - which is my jam.

tried Bardstown Bourbon Co Discovery Series Batch 2 ... that **** is absolutely awesome.

that was my opinion of 1792 Full Proof. Not a fan.

Best bottle I've bought in the last year was 4R OESO. Flavor bomb... sweet, savory, hot (but not too hot). Just perfect, really, IMO.

Haven't done much hunting yet this summer/fall. Looked and looked for some ECBP at or near MSRP last fall with no luck. That's #1 on my list.

The 1792 BiB is better than the FP, imo.

Haven't done much hunting bc I have plenty to work through still. Unless I run across something special I'm good. Am grabbing another bottle of the Evan Williams 12 year while I'm in Louisville next week.

I personally love EHT small batch at that retail price point.

For some reason, I’ve had quite a bit of luck finding Elijah Craig BP the last few years.

Popped on some Makers Mark Cask Strength at Kroger. Was on sale and they had a coupon so it ended up being $33. Can’t beat that.

Makers Cask Strength is excellent

I was going to do some shopping in TN and KY en route to the Breeders Cup in a few weeks but that trip has been put on ice.

I'm in a good spot with inventory where I dont need much else, but I have a short wish list (Birthday bourbon and an EHT Barrell Proof) that I would be willing to go pretty high on if I saw it in the wild.

Got a bottle of Elijah Craig barrel proof. Got little drunk one night and opened the bottle and just took a big swig. Not recommended. My throat still hasn’t recovered.

Which Chattanooga Whiskey MGP products do you like? I see some of those around occasionally.

Tried a Makers 46 cask strength limited edition and it was EXCELLENT, also tried an Elijah Craig single barrel select 11 year and it was very good.
Big fan of the Makers 46 Cask Strength. One of my favorite pours this year. Hoping I stumble onto another bottle soon.
