I won't be getting it at release. Will wait to get it pre-owned from somewhere on down the line.

My friend let me borrow Fallout 3 and I'm currently playing through it. Only 6 years late, no big deal. I usually hate games like this but I'm loving it.

It's fantastic. Way fewer bugs and glitches than the others have had, at least so far. I really like the crafting/modifications in this one. It takes everything I loved about the series and either improved it or didn't screw it up.The aiming is much better too.
Something about the entire setting of the Fallout's being set in drab post-apocalyptic worlds, full of browns and greys never got me interested. Always heard they were excellent, through.
This one has way more color than previous installments. I know what you mean about all the gray in Fallout 3, but New Vegas at least had some sunlight and orange/reds, and now F4 has pretty substantial color. Don't let that keep you away from the series.
I've played them all and plan to get this one. I've also rocked the modern Elder Scroll series. The stories and gameplay are absolute crack. The only 2x when my wife threatened divorce was when Fallout 3 and Skyrim came out.
Some are slamming 4 for lack of stunning graphics. I think people are expecting them to completely wow like Skyrim did everytime they release something. I don't play to be wowed by graphics. I play to be immersed in a story and compelling gameplay.
