Post some of your favorite songs in this thread. By classical instruments I mean like piano, violin, cello, etc. That type of instruments you'd find in an orchestra, basically.

These Louisville kids are pretty darn good. Jimmy Page retweeted this video and it made it on the Today show.

Great thread. I happen to play in such a band, actually. We're called The Orchid, we're from DC. We use violin and cello.

Here's a YouTube of our latest album:

Vika Yermolyeva is a Russian classic concert pianist who covers rock and metal on piano on Youtube. Some great stuff.

If you're going to turn the clock back, then Emerson, Lake and Palmer. They have a great head banging song, Toccata, that is best appreciated with headphones and the volume cranked up.

Just curious.. Post-rock doesn't necessarily mean "including classical instruments".. or is that just the sort of post-rock you like? Thread title confused me, as it's kind of two separate things..

Here are my fav post-rock bands/songs..

@Irish Beck awww man. We've talked about this a while back. All classics. DGD and FOT are favs of mine. Have not heard of BBNG though.. checking them out shortly.

Here's a very rare DGD video for Heat Seeking Ghost of Sex. Granted, JC was the lead, so that's an iffy topic for some. Never seemed to get any buzz.

I like both. I just happen to love the piano and violin. Mogwai actually made one of my favorite songs ever, Christmas Steps

I just have a thing for noodly guitars and dudes that sound like chicks when they sing or death metal. No middle ground for me. Willy will probably say I have sexual complexes, and he's right.

The Mars Volta
Caligula's Horse
Borns
Thr3e
Circa Survive
Dredg
Good Tiger
Sianvar
Protest the Hero
Etc. I could go on for days.

By the way, check out this Good Tiger Jam:

Mercy.

One of my life goals is to learn how to play the violin and/or piano. Wish I had been a band geek growing up, I don't even know how to read music...
