This class is a B+ regardless of final ranking. Next year is looking like it could be even better.
GBR^up we go
Completely agree

Being the best in the West is where it needs to start. I thought Farniok was a 4 star on rivals. What happened?
Lol. Your last sentence is false, unless preceded by "as long as so and so is coaching, and we run so and so scheme on offense and defense"No one needs to eat crow. That's ridiculous. Any fan has a right to be concerned about whatever they want. Sometimes a person is wrong, sometimes they are right. Ultimately we all want Nebraska football to be successful.
It's great that they're finishing strong. I think they have the potential to be a much better recruiting staff than the last. Their projected finish is still what I'd call "adequate for year one."
Let me put it to you like this: They are just about guaranteed to finish 5th in the conference in class ranking. UNLESS PSU signs 0 more guys or gets a crucial decommit, in which case NU maybe makes it to 4th on sheer class size. PSU will have a better avg. star ranking.
So it's great momentum, but don't book your tickets for the 2018 playoffs just yet...
So why are you ripping those guys who complained about recruiting in the second quarter? Again the message in my book should be patience and let's see how we stack up at the end. And don't call me a negative Nellie because that is exactly what I said when we were #43.Absolutely I do. And did more than I wanted to this year.
But when making a big comeback in the 4th happens, I'm cheering like mad as well. I guess I don't get it when things are looking up and people want to pull the "not so fast" Lee Corso card...
I'm ripping those guys (as are many others here... Not sure why singling me out) because, like Archie said a few posts ago, in a reactionary way to those who were relentlessly banging the drum about how bad the coaches were in recruiting. In no way was it directed at you because you did say MANY times to be patient. But the finish line is in sight and it appears that what so many were complaining about has proven to be a load of crap. Of course we need to finish it off with a few more big ones before Wednesday, but I am confident at this point that we will.So why are you ripping those guys who complained about recruiting in the second quarter? Well duh. We all want to win games. But it's pretty much proven you have a much higher probability of winning those games with a highly ranked recruiting class. No problem with feeling good about the "stars" but I personally feel good when we win the things that matter (ahem...the actual games).
So let me try to sum up... We went through a stretch where we didn't have any commits for quite a while, and MANY posters were claiming all kinds of things about our coaches (they can't recruit with the big dogs, we are still 42nd, we are behind Oregon State in recruiting...) and many of us were preaching patience. Now that we've gotten 4 big gets in the last two weeks (with more to come), we want to remind those who were slinging crap all about what they said. And you're telling us to cut it out.
Got it.
Were you one of those preaching patience? Serious question as I don't remember. I felt like a broken record thread after thread saying "wait til signing day." It was frustrating and draining doing that over and over. You're really, really wanting to run with this. You can do as you choose. I'll say it again, the OP put forth a challenge, line up, pay your respects, and eat crow. I'm waiting until this class is in the books.

You know this gunk about someone being wrong and eating crow and all that crap is just that crap and for the record I have stated many times I was in favor of the coaches going after the better recruits whether or not they landed them. Were you one of those preaching patience? I have no problem with you waiting til this class is in the books, but for those who want to celebrate a little, maybe you shouldn't preach to us to wait until signing day. That's all I'm saying.
Someone seems upset. Frowney face! You know this gunk about someone being wrong and eating crow and all that crap is just that crap and for the record I have stated many times I was in favor of the coaches going after the better recruits whether or not they landed them.
But be honest here this is not how you want recruiting to go all the time. If we are coming down tot he last week to make a class then sometimes you are going to get burnt any staff could. I really do not think we see all these late recruits next year, I think it will be more balanced timing wise
I am happy they are getting some kids to sign and hope it keeps going but you guys blowing smoke on here about eating crow just make yourselves sound like you were insecure all along
Do you need a tissue for your obvious tears, stemming from being angry that Nebraska is moving up?LOL you sir are seriously unbalanced - I actually like it and it makes me laugh

ah The emoticon brigade just showed up where is your fearless leader?

Their seems to be two DT's, which just decommited one from Michigan, and the other was: Chris Daniels, 250 Rivals, 4 *he hasn't surfaced as yet, amight be headed to Texas. While I mostly agree with this, will be disappointed that there is no DT---hate skipping positions in a class---and we could use a second OT (holding out very slim hope on AJax).
Outside if those, would be happy with proposed finish if we do finish that way.

And if future recruiting looks like this, then buckle up and enjoy the ride. Some years will be better than others, but one thing seems clear... These coaches seem well prepared and organized to hit more often than miss in recruiting.
But with so much negativity on this board prior to these recent commits, I gotta tell ya, I was beginning to worry. What if the sky is falling after all?
So yes, this is a relief, no question. At the same time, don't you think it's natural that since we are landing players we were hoping we would, those who weren't as cautious (using a nice word here...) might hear from those who thought it would happen this way? I wouldn't call it insecurity at all.
I'm not calling for people to eat crow, but I am saying pretty strongly that judging this class before it was completed has proven to be a bad idea...
If we land Jackson, Fitz, Simmons and Allen we will be top 15. Even if we get 2 of those 4 easily top 20.
Is this true? What do people think?Great job by the staff landing Farniok. But my concern has always been the size of the class, because Pelini often didn't fill his classes, and many guys didn't stick around. Right now we are at 19 and could lose Quayshon, which would put us at 18. That leaves us 5 days to fill about 25% of our class yet.

19 commits
Coach Riley has said 23 is the number he's looking at. You're proposing taking guys just to take them, fill the class regardless. That isn't ideal and has nipped us in the ***. The issue with Peelini wasn't just undersigning, it's who he took at the end that still kept him under the number. Not only that, there was a serious issue with roster management at positions.
- Jackson would be 20
- Fitzpatrick would be 21
- Simmons would be 22
- Allen, or another TE would be 23
There's a difference, no matter how someone tries to recreate history.
Simmons and Allen aren't exactly locks. Do you think we will end the class with 21, if we don't get either?
Didn't intend the post to mean they're locks, just showing the last four guys that are remaining. I think we're working on another TE, can't imagine we'd take another WR if Simmons doesn't sign with us. I believe Keyon Williams is a nice bonus and Simmons would be icing on the cake.
Unless the coaches have something up their sleeve that nobody knows about, it'll be 21-23 in this class.

What would we be ranked if Fitzpatrick and Lamar Jackson both pick us Monday and Tueaday...and just by adding those 2.
