'99 vs St. John's in the Garden. Style of play was flat out street ball & the most physical game I ever saw in person. Brand, Magette, Carrawell, Nate & Battier stood up to Artest & his cronies. Game went to OT on a ridiculous late three by SJU but our guys never lost composure. OT was a wrestling match, knew that team was special when no one backed down.

Crowd got ugly & Spike Lee was sitting court side fanning the flames. My brother, father & I got into it with a few SJU fans afterwards at a bar. Hands down best Duke game I ever attended.
I remember that game, was a WAR. Sadly don't see that now-a-days in the college game.

With the rule changes/focuses you can't.

That's another reason why unless you've perfected a press and a zone, your team D is also going to suffer. Shame really because basketball in the '90's really was the best.

Between early exits to the league and the idea from some coaches that a drive to the basket and kick out for three instead of a mid range jumper or learning to make a contested layup, the quality overall is going to take a hit at the collegiate level.

That's why I love basketball. It tells you a lot about yourself as a person.

I am w/Sky on the "Robbie West" game....Program was starting to take a dive from the Bubas years (Vic got out too early IMO), and this was a HUGE win...UNC was loaded....McAdoo had transferred there I believe and Bobby Jones was a sophomore...

OFC

That was a big win that season. Really helped with a really big arrogant unc fan base that year. OFC

Wake-Duke 2001 at Wake. I have never seen a place screw over away teams as bad as at Wake. Hell, I thought the refs had it out for UNC at Wake in 2005. Very physical, nothing was called. Two or three times Duke was literally pushed out of bounds with no call. Duke with the big rally and Duhon with the ":giant killer" shot to win it.

The 2001 ACC tournament Semifinal game against Maryland is very underrated. Back and forth all second half, Juan Dixon's half court shot looked like it was going in, then clanked out. Was our 2nd of 3 times beating them that year, the 3rd was even sweeter.

After that ACC Semi win, we went on to beat regular season champ UNC........by 26.
I was there for those games. Great wins!! So exciting

Not necessarily a game that's been forgotten, but the emotional high that I had after Duke beat UNLV in the FF has never been matched since. I was as sick as Hurley was the year before when UNLV ran them out of the arena, and honestly I was not looking forward to the game the next year. But when they pulled that final board I was on a natural hi for God only knows how long. Still gives me chills thinking about it. One of the biggest upsets, if not the biggest in Tourney history IMO.
