I can only list 10 so there are some that belong on a list so just add it if it's yours but I'm banking on your favorite being one of these 10.

I think it's a tough call for Godfather, Godfather II and Goodfellas. Those three are so above everything else to me. But my favorite is Goodfellas. I think it's a perfect movie.

There's probably 10 iconic scenes.

Same here; Goodfellas is my favorite, but Godfather two is a close 2nd.

Love all those in the poll but it's Goodfellas for me. I love the mob genre. Some underrated ones:
Suicide Kings
Road to Perdition
King of New York
A Bronx Tale
Millers Crossing
Eastern Promises
Carlitos Way
New Jack City

George Remus was known as the King of the Bootleggers. Operated out of Cincy. He "retired" to Covington & moved in next to my MIL's close cousins around 1950. He'd mow their grass w/o asking. They were mortified. As a wee child, DW's Mom & Dad visited & she recollects a bit of the commotion. He's buried in Falmouth for whatever reason. He was a bit character is HBO's Boardwalk Empire series.

Completely agree about Goodfellas, but also think Road to Perdition is phenomenal. If I remember correctly, that movie didn’t do well, which surprises me. A Bronx Tale is legit.

I just don't quite get the love and adoration for Goodfellas. I think its a solid movie. But kind of felt it to be a little bland. Character development was OK. Plot was fine. The direction was great, because it's Scorsese.. and the violence at the time was very raw so I appreciate what this film did for the industry. But idk. It's a movie I only need to see once. I find Godfather 1, 2, The Departed (my pick), The Town, Heat (not sure it counts, but one of my favs), The Untouchables to be much more entertaining.

The Godfather is good for its time but I happened to see it for the first time 4 years ago so by then it paled to others like Goodfellas.

I picked Goodfellas, and it is one of my favorite movies. But once Hill gets out of prison he (and the movie) takes a turn for the worse. I wish they could have gone through that a little faster.

Echo most of what everyone else says, "Goodfellas" is just a perfect movie. "GF" and "GF2" are great movies and really to try and pick among the 3 is like asking which one of your kids is your favorite. From the movie opening of Billy Batts in the trunk with " As far back as I can remember, I wanted to be a gangster" , the use of music with the end of "Layla", the Stones ," Monkey Man" and "Gimme Shelter", even things like " Leader of the Pack", the Copa scene, Joe Pesci's psychotic Tommy, etc. It's Scorsese's best film and whenever he comes out with anything, it's always an event but nothing tops this movie.

The first two Godfathers are wonderful and watching Michael's transformation is one of the greatest things ever. The scene outside the hospital with Enzo where hands are shaking so bad he can't light his cigarette and Michael lights it for him and notices that his hands are as calm as can be is one of my favorite scenes in any movie but "Goodfellas" edges the "GFs" out barely.

I thought my anti-goodfellas take finally found someone in agreement, only to find out this guy basically just liked everyone's post.

The first 1.5 hours of Goodfellas was great. I did feel like it dragged a little towards the end. I still loved it, but I can see how some people may not have like it.

Curious what you didn't like about Goodfellas?
It might be more that I just generally found it to be a bit overrated and fairly boring. Like, I give it a 7 or an 8, which means I still enjoyed it.. but just not to the level that others did. I know that it's based loosely on a book, and that means they are limited with what they can do with it. But no real suspense for me, not enough plot. It was: Kid gets pulled into crime family. grows up to do some heists, gets caught up in the life, gets in trouble, goes into Witness protection. End movie. No real twists and turns. No great screenplay/dialogue except from Liotta.

Also kind of felt the other characters were underused, which again, kind of is because this is a pseudo-autobiography and Ray Liotta's character gets most of the screentime and line delivery. But when I look at the movie Heat, there is no scene in Goodfellas that compares to the Diner scene with Pacino and Deniro. There is nothing in Goodfellas that was ever really eye-popping for me. Glamours mob life, a few guys get killed, roll credits.

However, one thing I do like, it draws you in from start to finish. It's an easy watch in that regards. You could put it on in the background and jump in and out as you please, because there's always something happening.

I'd also like to add True Romance to my list of "mob" movies.

Yeah, to each his own I guess. I just remember seeing it for the first time right when it came out and was blown away by the reality of it and how well it progressed through his life. It was also a very well made movie with pretty extensive camera work which was pretty awesome. Plenty of good mob movies though, it is what it is.

Although it's not a mob movie, there is a limited series on the making of the God Father. I thought it was excellent, very entertaining. It's called The Offer.
