I've watched this movie several times and found it entertaining, what makes you such a big fan?

The scope of the movie. Gibson had to recreate an entire civilization, I think they even handmade all the costumes in the movie.

The storyline is basic and primitive, yet compelling. The protagonist escapes death at every turn. Non-stop action involving the scenic backdrops of Guatemala and Veracruz.
At one point, someone gets his face mauled by a jaguar. Everything in this cinematic world is comprehensive.

The underlying theme of tradition, strength, family, continuity. Traditional values that are overlooked in most modern storytelling.

The adherence toward an indigenous cast in the movie. Realistic.

It would be easy to lampoon the rituals and traditions shown in the movie, but in Apocalypto they are an integral part of the storyline and you can tell they researched those ceremonies to get them right.

I could go on and on. I'm whiskeyed up now, but I've always maintained Apocalypto is the best movie of the 00s

I don't think there has been a movie that hit me as much as No Country For Old Men did.

Still have not seen that, saw the bar clip. I guess I need to find the DVD.

1 It's A Wonderful Life (Even though its a Christmas movie, will always be my favorite).

I can't give Robert Deniro any credit anymore, too much of a Liberal hack.

Casablanca
Braveheart
Good Will Hunting
Awakenings
Apollo 13
The Patriot
Island in the Sky
Sling Blade
Behind Enemy Lines
Dirty Harry
The Unforgiven
The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly
Life With Father
The Big Chill
The Maltese Falcon
From Here to Eternity
Prince of Tides (even though Streisand is sub human)
48 Hours
Its a Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad World
Steel Magnolias
Rain Man

Anything with Gene Tierney....

Too may others to name.

Never get tired of the old horror movies featuring Drac, Fankie, the Mummy and Werewolf. Watch them whenever they're on the tube.

Least favorite of all time: Titanic. Such a disappointment.

Speaking of Mel Gibson, has anyone watched Get The Gringo? It shows up on Netflix from time to time. Definitely a quality watch.

Just watched one of my all time underrated favorites yesterday They Live. It has possibly the best movie fight scene ever (the alley fight between Keith David and Rowdy Roddy Piper).

It even spawned this from South Park

Also had one of the best movie quotes of all time.
