Courtesy of GACMAN in the thread about the Nets practicing at Duke:

"K and dook will always just be K and dook....they will never ever be UNC....and that my friends is what pisses them off to no end"

Newsflash, none of us want Duke to be like UNC. We're pretty happy winning titles with the best coach in college basketball. Also, who would want the black eye of a 20+ year academic fraud hanging over their entire athletic program? Answer: nobody with a brain.
I'm supposed to be pissed? Gee, I thought I was supposed to be celebrating this national championship. Sorry...; anyway, why would I want to proclaim that I'm affiliated with UNC right now?

Man, I sure am glad that DSouth could make me laugh twice before my weekend starts.

1) "We went in to last season with 5 PGs that would all start for many D-1 programs"

Uhhh, what? PGs on their roster last year: Paige, Britt, Berry, and . . . Stillman White? Luke Davis? Not only did I have to stretch to get 5 PGs from their roster last season, but in reality, only Paige and Berry would start for the majority of D1 teams.

2) "IMO we were absolutely one of the 5 best teams in the county in Dec, duke wasn't, we were"

Uhhhm WHAT!?!? By the end of December last season, UNC had already lost to Butler, Iowa and Kentucky. Meanwhile, we were undefeated with double-digit wins against Final Four teams Michigan St and Wisconsin (on the road). Hell, UNC as many games by the end of December as we did ALL SEASON.

DSouthr, stop huffing paint.

I enjoyed this one from TPFKAPFS....it's a gem.

"We came very close to getting to the FF last year with just a few things breaking our way and we have been derailed by injuries other years as well wherein we could have won it all."

That's the equivalent of me saying that had we beat Mercer in 2014 we would have been in the Final Four. Btw, every team deals with hardships and injuries. It's not uncommon.
If I were four inches taller, about five times as fast, two times as athletic, and had all day to focus on my game and not go to class, I'd be in the NBA!

This entire thing by some dude I've never heard of makes me scratch my head....
"NewWe never left the elite category! I agree that we should spend less time worrying about puke though! ratty is at the end of his tenure, and college bball has always been cyclical. With our recent recruiting successes (hopefully at least 2-3 more peeps) and the deep, talented team we have now,I feel UNC is back on the upward side of the cycle. When one of the greats rises, one usually falls.

Will it be you, Kentuck, with a coach who leaves behind a trail of slime or will it be you, puke, whose coach has reached the end of his time, or if both should fall, while the Tar Heels rise, it would be to me sublime! Either way please don't feel insulted by my envenomed rhyme!

BUT: I don't believe the answer is copying the things we say are wrong in others. I think it is doing things The Tar Heel Way after adjusting to the times in which we live. Roy has adjusted and now we will harvest the fruits!"

Came across these 2 wonderful gems next door.

headenheel: "Well he isn't going to Kentucky...and I would have to believe UNC isn't looking too bad right now for Giles. REMEMBER he is also relatively close to Pinson...I say the longer the wait the better for UNC. Then there's Bam and Woods who are left...."

RP12: "I say Giles is a Tar Heel. No inside info, no logical conclusion. Just a lot of hopeful thinking and faith in how special this program, family and coach are. If that realization gets into his heart nothing else will matter."

I was coming here to post the same thing. You beat me to it. But there is some more comedy that goes with that.

K and dook will always just be K and dook....they will never ever be UNC....and that my friends is what pisses them off to no end...no matter how hard they try..no matter how hard they work at it..no matter how may stunts k pulls.....he will always just be k and dook! Give them a break...that is a big burden to handle!

13 Friday at 11:50 AM

That is a big burden to handle. Defending champions, top recruiting class and no academic scandal to "cloud" the program. It's a damn shame everybody can't be like UNC.

I enjoyed this one from Archer....and I love his nickname of "Knight Lite" for K. Haha....creative.

Well now that Knight Lite has completely gone over to the dark side and is pimping your fine academic institution as another OADU, you can't be complaining. And many of your fans were trash talking Cal for doing it a few short years ago. Come here, maintain a 1.5 for one semester, and then move on. And the more the merrier. You are welcome to that type of program, regardless of the success on the court it may bring.

What Archer fails to grasp, and not surprisingly might I add, is that UNC is recruiting one-and-done players just like Duke and UK....the problem is, those recruits want nothing to do with the Heels.

Our only saving grace is that the Holes have limited scholly's available. If not, they'd land anyone they recruited.

Dukiejay-following up on your comment. Just read an article where a guy posts in the comment section: If Roy had just called a TO in the Wisconsin game, UNC would have been in the FF. So, I guess Wisconsin would have magically rolled over-you know, being the better team and all and having the lead, and then their Regional final opponent would have been forced to forfeit. You know, the team of destiny that barely got by Harvard. Roy, Duke, the NCAA and the Gods are just against them.

Oh now they're saying if Marshall didn't get hurt in 2012 they woulda won the championship. I'm sorry but that UK team wasn't losing to anybody that tourney.

They love playing that what-if game: they would have easily beaten UK in the final because they had barely lost at Kentucky earlier in the year...some logic there by those morons

UNC is out of the Giles race. Thus, it's down to Duke and Wake Forest with Duke being the clear favorite. If Wake could pull off a miracle and get a commit from Giles, the effect on K would be worst than Barnes, which was devastating. The man is already suffering from TWS and a national headline "K loses recruiting battle with Wake Forest for Giles" would embarrass the heck out of him. That ego will take a big hit.

Yep. Just like his ego took hits hundreds of times before as he has reached 5 championships.

Again, what K has done on the recruiting trail since losing out on Barnes is remarkable. Do you think most reasonable UNC fans might want similar results recruiting and on the floor since Mr. Skypes announcement?

If that's an ego hit that he can't recover from, i hope it happens again. Bring me two more championships in five seasons.

Well if Coach K's ego is going to take a big hit if he doesn't get Giles just think if he had to settle for what HOF Coach Roy Williams has been getting. OFC

Yeah, that's scary, but what's scarier is that Meeks ran a 6.03 mile. There is no hope for us now. Coach K's track team won't have a chance.

Gary simply can't help himself. He hates K so much it's beyond humorous. He started a thread to "discuss" the new points of emphasis for officials, and well it's as predictable as you would think. It's basically a platform for him to suggest, winky face, "cough cough" etc. that all of these changes are to stop K from having this unbelievably unfair advantage (as if he doesnt have enough already right!).

Gary:
100% agree. Reffing should be consistent across the country and accountable. Other than the clock and the arc, every one of the points mentioned are simply rules they don't call right... and certain coaches do whatever they can to keep them from being called... and some coaches (cough, cough, K, cough) predicate their entire systems on them not being called correctly.

This is funny...Gary saying that K has predicated his ENTIRE system on the refs? What? How do you go to 9 championship games and win 5 of them by predicating your entire system on the refs? If that is how it works, I would think other coaches would try to replicate that.

Seriously if you haven't had an opportunity to head on over to THR and read the rules changes thread it is priceless. Two things to note:

1. If officials just called things the right way by the rule duke would be 0-1100 in the Coach K era.
2. See number 1.

Those who lives in glass houses shouldn't cast stones. Here is DSouthr on Skal and his eligibility concerns at UK:

"This thing is shady man, no surprise that he is at ky because shady does not matter there and that is certianly true for their coach."

Seriously? Was a 20+ year academic scandal shady? Are Dean, Gut, Doh, and Roy all shady because they benefited from and likely condoned blatant institutional cheating that spanned over 2 decades? Was Frank McGuire (major NCAA violations and point shaving rumors) shady? How about Larry Brown? He certainly embodies the real Carolina Way...

Crack open a history book, DSouthr. Or maybe a dictionary. Your blind ignorance leads me to believe you don't know what shady really means.

Awesome post Mark. This is the thing. Nothing major as far as sanctions or punishment is going to happen to UNC basketball for the same reason that UCLA and Coach Wooden has not been given any sanctions for players getting paid.. Think about it. Whose gonna tarnish Wooden's name. Yeah I know they took down Joe Paterno but Dean Smith and John Wooden are a diiferent story. OFC
