If you guys click on that thread from RR that I linked check out some of the new posts from that Willy moron. Another idiot claiming Duke has won every title because of the refs and the NCAA in on making sure Duke gets the easiest path and wins it all. Truly amazing.

Clearly the greatest of all time. I mean, Dean's two titles were ensured at the expense of two bizarre and child-like turnovers and Roy's two titles were ensured by using ineligible players. McGuire also had one title in an era with no freshman, no 3-pointers, no shot clock, and only one representative from a conference. Clearly UNC* is the standard for college basketball.

Here's a real laugher courtesy of @truetarheelraider0806:

I will tell you this and then I am off this thread ingrim was COMING to UNC I til rashad mccants lie took the media by storm. Jalen Rose then started saying the men's team was going to get hammered and no matter how Roy tried to reassure the family espn had them scared to death to come to unc.
Helen kept saying Roy knew and how could he not. while in his 30 for 30 doc he says his coach knew nothing. what? espn is a powerful entity and once they start negatively talking about a progra. especially one as prestigious as UNC people listen. they want to see a blue blood who they figure cheated all along get hammered factes be damned. that is why ingrim didn't come here. to much negativity. But the parting shot he left was unnecessary. I wouldn't be at all surprised of someone out him up to that. he was coming then mccants happened damn.

Judging by the literacy of that post I assume he was a basketball player in the mid-2000's and played at UNC.

Whatever happened to the theory that Ingram knew he wouldn't start a single game last year for unc and that's why he came to Duke? They even laughed at the idea that he would be a OAD.

This thread is pretty funny:

https://northcarolina.forums.rivals.com/threads/brandan-ingram.24959/

Couple of great quotes from DSouth from way back in there:

#2 pick in what? There is zero chance anyone wastes a #2 NBA draft pick on him, he at best maybe end of the lotto and that would be based on perceived potential

Ken, you know darn well, if YOU are a NBA GM there is no freakin way you waste a first round pick on him! By the time he finally gets to the point of being able to help a team he will be out of his rookie contract and most likely leaving the team that drafts him.

Little Richard makes an amusing appearance too:

I guess he will go top 5. That's quite an indictment on how the NBA drafts players these days. The fact that he could go #2 is embarrassing.

IMO, Ingram will never average double digits in the NBA.

I remember that thread. I believe he also wrote in that thread that if he were a GM, he would draft Brice Johnson 1 overall.

This thread is filling that void for me this afternoon. Between some of those THR quotes and past quotes and the RR threads all you can do is laugh and shake your head at the stupidity.
You and DJ had some great counterpoints in the old THR thread I linked earlier.

I love the guy who calls it embarrassing to the country that a former Army vet is our countries basketball coach. I guess we should go with a guy who has had 2 final fours vacated. That is what is right about our country, not the guy who has worn the uniform of our country. LOL, can't make it up.

Exactly, denn, completely mind boggling.

That would imply vast improvement for Pinson and Williams, as well as playing time for Maye. I'll give him the rest of it though.

Courtesy of @imajericho:

Only one who can't hot 3s next year is Meeks.

Bradley can. Maye can. And those are down low guys. Then add in berry jackson pinson williams etc. Good lord.

I expect us around the top of the ACC in 3s this year.

*splosion

Blind optimism at its finest.

Are these the same basketball purists that hate the 3 point shot?

UNC doesn't like what they're not good at - integrity, for example.

But if they ever become good at something, that's when Roy becomes a visionary who revolutionizes the game. Unlike most coaches, Roy adapts. He listens. He learns. He may even call a timeout one day
This reminded me of a quote I came across in that old THR thread about Brandon Ingram I linked this morning. Courtesy of Gary:

1. The fact that Roy recruits elite OAD players does NOT mean he would take them all. Unlike Cal, he does not over-recruit. If he gets a OAD he thinks can help for a year, then yeah... but he will NEVER build his program around that, nor should he. Thus your argument fails miserably.
2. Roy will only start a freshmen --- ANY freshman --- if he feels he is ready and fits at that point. Marvin Williams, a sure fire lottery pick, came off the bench because that's where he fit best on that experienced loaded team.
3. Roy's "system" is the best basketball system ever invented by the best coach who ever coached anything, Dean Smith. It is not some dumbed-down romper-room glorified AAU stuff like Cal plays. Roy's system can adjust to personnel but he's not gonna build it around them.

So true, Devilz! And if they ever reel in any OADs they'll be the greatest thing since sliced bread.

Edit: Haha, didn't see your post Mark before I made this.

Gary on the myth of impartial scouts when asked why Platek is ranked outside the top-100:

There are no such things as "impartial evaluators". If there were Jalek Felton would be consensus Top-15.

Interesting, because @Eric Bossi had this to say about Felton:

The deal with Felton is simple and anybody who has watched him or read what we've written about him over the years could see this coming. He has no motor and plays when he feels like it. Felton is very talented and could be a top 10-15 player but he's got to cut down on turnovers and play hard with more consistency.

That's the only post I've made at THR in five years or so. And believe it or not, it got me banned. I have no idea what I said or did that warranted it, but @mikeirbyusa never responded to multiple emails I sent him and neither did two of their other mods.

No doubt. Roy wouldn't take every OAD he recruits, huh? Lol. And he doesn't "over recruit." So I guess that means Ole Roy doesn't look for top talent every year. If you sign with the Holes he will not recruit another player at your position until you leave. Cool. Ha haaa. Such fools.
