How come you say who cares about things I obviously care about. I lay out my happy season:
Beat O
Lose at the shoe
Lose a final 4 matchup
Lose in the NFC championship (o snap, those are my Super Bowl champions Philly Birds)

Need to change our mindset on what success is in this era - teams don’t have to be built to win every game like before; goal is get to the playoffs and get hot. This gives Franklin more room for error during the season but also takes away the importance of the one or two big games a year we do have. Weird as a fan because you want to win those games, but really, it’s about winning enough to stay ranked and in the Top 12 or so.

Ex f ing actly what MN said. This is why I’m happy all the time (now)
will the gatekeepers soften their “State is perfect” if BGJ misses the playoffs? I’m not interested in finding out

You have a bad habit of repeating the bs that people who defend CJF think that State is perfect. Nobody thinks that State is perfect. Everybody thinks that Franklin needs to do better.

Nonsense, and if the maths wasn’t so hot right now you’d be back on ignore

So, prior, we were only successful when we won every game? That was your mindset?

How simple.

Will the gatekeepers soften their “if State isn’t perfect, they’re mockable beat blue hens crap” if BGJ wins the playoffs? I’m interested in finding out.

There are certain posters on here who would be very hypocritical if they celebrated a NC win by Franklin.

In the past 30 seasons PSU has finished in the top 10, 9 times. 5 of those in Franklin's 10 years. He certainly needs to get things fixed.

Some of this would be nice too…;)

Everyone is looking to hire the coaching legends of the game. My apporach is, when one of these men are available......and want to come to PSU....fire Franklin. Until then, I'm gonna enjoy 10 and + win seasons. It's something that is denied about 60 of around 70 P4 and major independent football programs.
As an old coach, I recall a Lombardi quote...."Gentlemen, we will chase perfection. With the knowledge that perfection is unattainable. The pursuit of perfection will lead us to achieve excellence."
I'm extremely uncomfortable with all this talk about National Championships. I'll fight to lead the parade if that happens.
However, I am extremely grateful to have enjoyed 16 games last year. My fervent hope is to see a similar number this year.
Penn State Football is in a very good condition.

And his record against top 5 teams in his first 10 games was 1-9…same as Franklin. And I wonder who has the most losses against #1 teams…maybe Paterno?

I think part of the frustration with CJF is that Alabama and Ohio State had set such a high standard, and for reasons I am not sure....PSU fans expect to be on the same level.

Both of those programs over the last 20 years have been significantly better than any other.

What made it more frustrating is that Ohio State is in CJF's backyard.

And the question is why some fans expect PSU to be at that level when we haven’t been since the 80’s?
