Have seen this (or a version of it) on my timeline for weeks now….what say you? Worth noting some other players win their position every week too…

It’s the QBs competing at chess. Allar is playing checkers.

Allar will be the starter and get the bulk of the reps, but the new OC will work in Beau. This offense is going to look completely different. Any premeditated ideas we have from last year as to what this year will look like are out the window.

Meaningless. Players have received this designation and have never been heard of again.

I don't disagree; just noticed many beat writers picking up on this tidbit and promoting it heavily on social media. Obvious agenda is obvious....

They have been doing this for years. How are supposed fans of the program thinking this is worth noting when it comes to the starters? Not saying you but the tweet itself I guess is to stir some pot???

Two guesses as to who is promoting this most.....first one doesn't count.

Not necessarily an agenda. Clicks mean money. You got to follow up on every single thing.

I mean, sure - but he hasn't said anything about the other guys who are getting the award for their positions (I don't have the graphic but there is one).

It was obvious to me that Allar had trouble with the pressure brought by teams with superior defenses. He really needs to find a way to slow the game in his head.

It was also obvious to me that his WRs didn't help him by getting separation and catching passes in traffic.

The play calling didn't help either. Not enough high percentage quick hitters or screens to help him gain confidence.

Hopefully the new OC & Fleming can help.

With the exception of the Iowa game our quarterback play against ranked teams was awful. Not mediocre, it was awful.

Yes, they got no help from the wideouts. That was not the only reason the QB play was medocre

I would imagine the stats would show Allar rarely threw the ball past the down markers. A quick look at the B1G stats show Allars ypc was no better than 5th or 6th among starting quarterbacks.

I do not doubt that Allar is the best passer we have, but the separation between him and Pribula as an overall quarterback is not as wide as we might expect. I’m not saying Allar should not start, but he has to get better to keep his job secure. He has not shown he is good enough to be a top tier starter in the B1G. He still has to earn that.

Others may not want to hear this, but very well said.

Have you seen them practice? There is a big difference between DA and BP passing ability. BP is less accurate and way weaker arm

Reminds me of what Bruce Clark said after Penn State beat Maryland years ago. Penn State was actually the underdog. All the pre-game hype centered on the weight lifting prowess of Maryland and how strong their players were. After Penn State won fairly comfortably and he was asked about the Maryland team Clark said what were we going to do today lift weights or play football?

So the quarterback play was awful with the exception of Iowa huh? You must have missed the Maryland and Michigan State games huh?

PSU led the B1G in scoring last year and I think he threw 2 INT's to 25 or so TD's while completing just under 60% in his first year starting. Now I know some fans can only talk about or remember the losses, but for a first year starter he did pretty well. Does he still have some holes in his game where he needs to make progress this year...absolutely. Take some more chances up top, stop rushing throws...take that last 1/4 of a second to allow the WR to get open knowing you're going to get hit. Maybe take off a bit more if you see it or handle the pressure a bit better but overall he was very solid this year. As fans all we can do is hope he does progress more this year and if that occurs good things should follow.

Hardly in the category of ranked teams. Those two were the quintessential type of opponent that Allar, and for that matter the team in general, largely pad their stats/win total with. Iowa was an outlier. Bring any other competitive team, and the hype is exposed.

The only ranked teams we played besides IA were OSU and UM who had top defenses.

Part of the reason Allar's ypc was low is because our WRs couldn't get deep and our best pass catchers were TEs. I'm not letting Allar off the hook. I'm just saying there were other factors.

BWICAC needs to make some "coaching changes." In January '22 they declared, "Allar needs to be named the starter right now!" Now they hype a "QB controversy?" I wonder how many winter workout stickers Tom Brady won?
It's great to know you have a capable backup should #1 get hurt. In the meantime a wrinkle here and there is fine.
Two QBs is never a winning plan. Kinda like the BWICAC and the actual coaches.....only one is relative  and its not the BWICAC.
