Won’t be the same. I’m sorta dreading this, actually. These things have a tendency to go bad. How in god’s name do you find a character to match Boyd Crowder?

I would think most of the original players will be back.

Hard to deny that. The Deadwood movie was a good recent example. As I usually do, I'll watch with low expectations and hope to be pleasantly surprised.

I feel better about this being a limited series instead of a movie. We’ll see though - as much as I thought the Deadwood movie was ‘meh’ I still really enjoyed seeing everyone. And Deadwood was mostly unfinished when it ended whereas Justified had one of my favorite endings ever.

Let’s not forget the beginning of Justified, either.

The title “City Primeval” brought to mind a “Raylan Goes to NYC” vibe, that’s all I was going on. You could be right.
Now you have me thinking this...

Official synopsis (which is based on more Elmore Leonard work, so I have faith):

"Having left the hollers of Kentucky eight years ago, Raylan Givens now lives in Miami, a walking anachronism balancing his life as a U.S. Marshal and part-time father of a 14-year-old girl. His hair is grayer, his hat is dirtier, and the road in front of him is suddenly a lot shorter than the road behind. A chance encounter on a desolate Florida highway sends him to Detroit. There he crosses paths with Clement Mansell, a.k.a. The Oklahoma Wildman, a violent, sociopathic desperado who's already slipped through the fingers of Detroit's finest once and aims to do so again. Mansell's lawyer, formidable Motor City native Carolyn Wilder, has every intention of representing her client, even as she finds herself caught in between cop and criminal, with her own game afoot as well. These three characters set out on a collision course in classic Elmore Leonard fashion, to see who makes it out of the City Primeval alive."

No mention of other characters but believed some will make an appearance...

Exactly where I’m parked about this announcement — thrilled to know we’re going to see these characters again (bonus if they nail the story).

Yes, thank you. I was wondering if this was based on Elmore Leonard’s writings. Big whew.

I completely forgot of his family connections to Miami.

Goes to Detroit........🤭

I was hoping they'd stay in Harlan; the small episodes were my favorite. I was actually watching one last night where a character (played by W. Earl Brown, Dan Doherty from Deadwood) takes a Marshal hostage and Raylan gets him to give himself by telling him he can have fried chicken dinners and bourbon from his favorite restaurant. The number of Deadwood alums in Justified is staggering.

Dang, good catch. I really need to re-watch the series. But Justified was always at its best when Raylan was in the holler. I mean, Margo Martindale as Mags Bennett, whoa. Remember the time she went off on Coover, the fear we saw from Coover told volumes.

If they are basing this off of the Elmore Leonard book, you shouldn't have anything to worry about.

However, topping Boyd Crowder just can't be done.

Boyd could make a comeback, but Ava, should be a "No" based upon the series finale. Given the creativity shown in the original, there should be no shortage of interesting characters wherever the setting.

As somebody mentioned above, this show had arguably the best beginning and ending of a series ever.

Question from me on a bored, listless morning: What’s the other show in your top 2?
It’s Breaking Bad, Jim. Watching Yellowstone now and it’s very good. I think what made Justified so good was the acting but also the plot/setting. The whole oxycodone thing is huge for me because as someone who tries hard to a good business leader, the oxy/Sackler scandal is one of the most heinous crimes ever committed against the American public.
