And treat it like an expansion team (maybe switch colors to red, white and blue to complete the major sports all the same color trifecta a la Pittsburgh). Seems like a name changes (since Commanders reeks of Dan Snyder) is inevitable, but I think they should try to keep the burgundy and gold (and go back to the 'real' versions of those colors, not the Commanders' version). Honestly, if they could figure out a way to go back to celebrating indigenous peoples with a name like 'Natives' they could resurrect a lot of the iconography associated with the franchise which was never really the problem (it was just the name IMO).

If they don't sort out the stadium bit, they might be be moving to another city at some point anyhow. Right? Wrong?

My head hurts too.

A lot of the stadium issues are due to the fact that no one wants to deal with Snyder. The new minitory owner, Mitchell Rales, is DMV through and through, so I’m not concerned about the Commanders moving. Keep the colors, ffs.

Lol, you could do worse. But why go to all the trouble of rebranding, anyway? Put a good product on the field and make gameday an enjoyable experience, it’s not rocket science.
And, also, treat the fans with respect. The contempt Snyder showed for the fans just boggles the imagination. He is truly a POS.

Many years ago when the dung started flying about changing the name I thought the best suggestion was The Cicadas because they make the playoffs once every 14 years. Having said that I was there for the glory days of the franchise and wouldn’t trade those times for any other.

Those were good teams. High-character players.

Snyder ran the organization's fanbase into the ground. It would be a good idea to win some games and not suck at public relations. DMV is really disjointed vs 25-30 years ago. People come from all over the country and hold on to their home city teams. Everyone loves a winner though and winning will turn a lot of those people into fans.

Think they should call them the Washington redskins.

Call them the Washington Americans and make them Red White and Blue. Put a flag on their helmet. Who wouldn’t like that? Just make them look like a different version of the NY Giants.

How about the "Maroons" in honor of their heritage, namely the Pottsville Maroons.
While the Pottsville Maroons did become the Boston Bulldogs, they had no connection to the Boston Braves which awarded a new franchise two or three years after the Bulldogs folded.
