Seems strange you would object to this comment. So you support masking children, telling they’re racist, and teaching elementary children about transgenderism?
I don't subscribe to Tucker Carlson outrage porn. I have no time for anyone who presents their argument or point of view like yourself and the poster I originally responded to. That certainly doesn't fall into the normal, rational people bucket that I desire for the school board and in leadership positions in general.

WTF does Tucker Carlson have to do with this? He lives rent free in your all’s heads. Moving forward, try to go two posts without mentioning him.

Still don’t see why the original post you objected to is controversial.

^ Exhibit A for who I hope doesn't run for the school board.
LOL. Yes, let's hope someone who isn't a radical leftist nut doesn't get on the school board. I can't believe someone doesn't want to teach "Hey white kids, you're racist and black kids, you're helpless victims" "Here's drag queen story hour" and "I'm going to tape this mask to your face" hysteria.

Don't pretend you're sensible if you think anything I wrote is "controversial" and wouldn't be welcomed by most parents.

Poster 1: man, we really need more common sense people on school boards. Just hope it doesn’t lead to Qanon types (🙄)

Poster 2: yeah - we need folks in place who will make sure kids aren’t masked for no damn reason and to make sure the curriculum doesn’t include the divisive CRT crap and the over sexualization of our children.

Poster 1: woah, woah woah there Mr Tucker Hitler Qanon!!!!

FFS.

I think it has become evident that this type lacks the self awareness of their bias and reality. It’s like a fish who doesn’t know he’s in water.

Didn't see this mentioned but HB51 finally passed.

Yes that was good. A few more steps to go. Now it goes to senate for vote. If it passes there, it goes to governor desk. He has 10 days to sign it or veto it. If he vetoes, then house/senate can override the veto. So it may not be a quick relief for us in FCPS, but is a great step to preventing unnecessary mask mandates in the future should we be stuck in this situation again.

What's going to happen is the Senate will pass, Beshear will veto, they'll override it, then it will be law. Of course that will be about 3 or 4 days after masks are optional due to the 199 threshhold. Everyone gets a trophy!

FCPS will be soon, buddy. Sucks it's this long but JCPS will force their hand.

As for the bill, I'm not a huge fan of losing local control, BUT with the Governor using back door agency/departments to end round the previous legislation, this effectively gives the parents the power. Which is enough to offset the local control argument for me.

Once these things are optional it should never go back.

That's exactly how it will go. But whatever has to be done to avoid forcing this on kids in the future, I'm for that. This should have always been an individual choice.

7 day average is now 50 in FC. By his standard, they should immediately come off starting tomorrow. Make the call you spineless coward.

Dr. Liggins said in his hiring interview that he didn’t believe in mask mandates…you see where we are now that politics got involved. Guess he said whatever it took to get the job. He is looking more like an idiot with each passing day. I mean he was set up to succeed the minute he walked in the door…FCPS was in disarray when he was hired..only could go up. But somehow he is walking on a ship that is taking on water by the day. Let’s hope he steps up to role of captain quickly before the ship sinks. At which point he would just bounce to his next $200,000 year gig in another city. I liked the dude when he was hired but he is losing all credibility quickly.

Timoney voted no to give parents choice on masking. He is an employee of FCPS so his votes/Covid opinions have seemed to be in line with the unions and FCPS. He explained his no vote by saying if they went mask optional we would be short on substitute teachers and bus drivers 😂.

Dr. Liggins job interview at the below.

At the 30:48 mark in the video, Dr. Liggins, when asked about masks says "As for mandating it for anyone, I don't think I would go that far as to do that nor make a recommendation to the board of ed. to make that happen. But I don't think anyone should be discredited for choosing to wear one or discredited for how how they decided to or not to get the vaccine."

So one of the metrics they use to determine if a county is in “high” category is hospital admissions. This is where Fayette County gets screwed and it takes looking closer at the data. Our admissions numbers have been too high because of all the people who actually live in another county but are travel to UK for care and are admitted into UK hospital. So looking at the data, somewhere around half of our admissions numbers come from counties up to 75 mikes away from Lexington 😩. If one does not look into the data and is flexible enough to factor that into their masking decision, our kids will continue to be masked.

They're not looking because they don't want to. They're taking an ostrich approach to justify doing what they want.

So when Liggins said the number 199, and we were at 203, on Tuesday…what is he referring to? Seven day average is now 44. Based on 325k people, that’s 13.5/100,000. UK is sitting at 107 inpatients, and have been all week. We typically discharge a lot of people on Fridays, so let’s hope Monday will be mask free.

I can honestly say .... I have no idea. It's probably in some very well designed infographic that was sent out, but those all became white noise after a while.

For some reason Monday is the only day in the last 7 days Fayette County has reported cases. They probably don't *trust* that data.

The CDC is counting all admissions in our Health Service Area, regardless of county of residence. This is problematic because the hospitals in our Health Service Area (particularly in Lexington) serve patients from a much larger population. Having to include them in our numerator without getting to include those populations in our denominator unfairly skews our ratio of new inpatient admissions higher. This one data point alone is what's keeping us in the "high transmission" zone. Based on the other two (cases and hospital occupancy) we'd be in the "low transmission" category.

Make those calls/emails to the health department, board members, and dr liggins 😁. Let them know how our data is being used inappropriately.

They are double dipping then. Because Woodford HD is saying that they are tracking Woodford County residence in their hospital capacity portion of the colored chart based upon where they are going to the hospital. Woodford doesn't have any hospital capacity for covid.

FCPS fighting strong for last place! Here is masking map as of today:

Imagine being in charge in Fayette, looking at that map and seeing all of that green. The children of those areas are unmasked and poorly vaccinated. Yet, their numbers drop.

You are not going to be able to show them that their own metric should end this. You will have to end this.

Nearly all of those green counties are not following cdc guidance.

I wish the the Lexington Herald Leader or other media would do a FCPS investigative report where Hyman reveals all his dirt 😁.
I have actually reached out to them as a cooperative source, but it didn’t even draw flies.

I have copious notes, mostly for CYA purposes, that go back 5 Superintendents.

I want to be clear, I am not condemning, for the most part, school staff. The problem resides at Central Office, and just the entire micromanaged state of public education in general.

Announcement should be coming today.
If I am looking at cdc site correctly, they still have us at “high/red”. You think FCPS has decided to go with local health department data only (they have us good to go mask optional)? CDC data is only updated once a week do it won’t be updated till next Thursday.

For the record, I have heard nothing. But I was wrong about last week too. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

You know as well as I do, they never do what is expected. Just relaying what 3 separate people have told me today. Until we get the email, I’m cautious.
