He sure seems like a great kid who really cares about this team. We are a young work in progress with lots of help on the way.

I will never forget all the clutch kicks that JW has made including my personal favorite, the OT winner against Cincy in 2012 in the freezing rain.

The losses make me enjoy the wins. As young as we are, we will rite the ship and make some noise soon.

I felt bad for him last week when he was sent out to accomplish something beyond his ability - in kicking that 53 yard FG at the end of the game. But one from 38 yards? That's gotta be knocked down. Who knows what happens in OT but, you have to get there to find out.

Dont't feel too bad for him. He is a senior who is 3/8 on the year. The Houston one is a little excusable because of the distance but with an offense that can't seem to find a consistent rhythm for a whole game you can't keep leaving those points on the field.

Last night was a solid performance and while it sucks to lose again, the future of this football team is bright. Most all the play makers are freshmen or sophomores.

John Wallace will be fine. He missed a field goal. It's not the first time nor will it be the last. It happens.

I will say this and you can accuse me of being a homer if you want, but this team played its best football of the season last night while playing against a team that is every bit as good as advertised. 0-3 is 0-3 and that sucks, but this team has character and fight. They won't quit. They should be able to beat Samford then it's on to the road where they'll have the opportunity to get away from the local media.

You should really do your homework before you make a comment that our young man John Wallace is NOT a good field goal kicker. Last year he was 15 of 19 on fg attempts. He was perfect on all 50 extra point attempts ....finished the season ranked 2 all time with 51 fG, He needs 9 to tie the school record. There is a reason he is missing so many this year. Wow I wonder if it's a team problem??????? John will get it fixed, he's a senior. Don't dog the wrong guy.

I thought we played a good game against a good team, Clemson's defense was really good. Petrino is starting to slowly add some wrinkles that look good instead of desperate. I like the lineup with Jackson and Bonnafon in there together it has a lot of potential.
I also thought our defense played better more like a college team, at least we weren't dragging the offensive player 5 yards forward while we were trying to strip the ball. This is a young team and I think it will be a good team before the season is over as long as we keep improving I'll be happy.

John Wallace was never anything special. Don't know why people hyped him so much. Not one memorable kicker since art. Hard to understand uofls luck with kickers.

Getting more like the uk boards all the time.

When has a CBP offense ever had to to solely rely on a FG kicker? The kid has been more than efficient enough.

To blame the kicker for our problems is ridiculous. Even if he hits it, I have doubts our D would stop CU in OT. Our D was supposed to be our strong suit but people are dogging them too, but guess what? They are playing great if we can just muster a fraction of past CBP O's.

It's CBP who needs to get it together because the whole team looks like a mess so far this year. TO's because we can't get plays in? When has CBP ever not known what play he wants to run?

Fr are part of the problem, and you can't coach experience. But to dog the FG kicker when we are LAST in rushing?

Beam me up.

I wish we had a decent rushing game, or OL, or DL, or Center, or QB.

0-3

I'd venture that if we had all those things, the kicker wouldn't be the topic.

Kinda puts the "team" into team doesn't it?

It could be worse. Remember when We didn't even attempt field goals, or extra points, for awhile back in the HeWhoShallNotBeNamed days. That was a nightmare. Coach Strong brought the kicking game back.

I agree that it's not John Wallace's fault solely why We are losing games. The offense does need to improve. The defense's problems do come late in the game from fatigue from the lack of offense putting them back on the field too early for too long.

John Wallace needs to focus though. He use to be more clutch than he is now. Kicking is a big part of football. Tons of games are decided by last minute field goals. The great big Match-ups like Clemson vs. Louisville is decided by a field goal. You want a clutch kicker on your team at all times to be able to bail you out of a defensive struggle.

Missing 1 or 2 field goals no big deal. Missing 3 or more you need to start being concerned with accuracy.

He's better than this. He just needs to get his confidence back and get it together again.

I've never understood why Wallace gets dogged so much, as he's been very good other than a rough start to this season. Now I understand, as he keeps getting compared to Art Carmody. AC is an exception to the rule on the positive side, it would be like expecting all of the QB's to be like any of the former legends here.

He's not being compared to Art Carmody. Nobody every will be.

He's being compared to himself, and every other kicker in the NCAA for this season. He's currently sitting tied at #97, with Bowling Green's Kicker Tyler Tate, out of a 102 in all of FBS in Field Goal percentage. He's in good company I guess. NC State's Kicker, Kyle Bambard, is sitting at #100, and Alabama's Kicker, Adam Griffith, is sitting in dead last at #102.

Since this is a Rival's board, I will go there. Kentucky's Kicker, Austin MacGinnis, is tied for #32 in the country right now. He's just a Sophomore. He's 6/7 in 3 games against 2 SEC Teams.

All that We are saying is that John Wallace is a better kicker than what He is producing on the field lately. Even broadcasters have said that He is usually automatic from certain distances, but so far, this year, He is proving different.

He just needs to get focused again.

It's still early in the season. He has plenty of time to turn it around.

Nothing on the offense has been proficient.

Why would we expect the kicking game to be? It's part of the offense.

I will bet that the more efficient the offense becomes, the better the kicking game will be.

That's exactly why We need John to be more accurate. To bail us out more or less in the close dogfights. He has to hit the short chip shots.

Our Total Offense currently is #103 out of 127 in FBS. We sit just right under #102 Kentucky if that puts things in perspective. Our Defense not doing much better either. We are #81 out of 127 in Total Defense. To put it in perspective again, Kentucky is #60.

These are just stats, but anyone that has watched us play, Knows that We are struggling in all areas of the game.

Definitely a rebuilding Year, and the most challenging year.

The Competition is better this year. That's why We need our Kicker to be accurate.
