I like Roy & felt bad for him at the presser b/c K has been in that spot. UNC fans are insufferable but Roy is alright in my book. Paige as well. They were cool to K with the 1K wins ceremony.

K, Roy & Dean have most title game losses, you don't get that far multiple times on luck.

He looked like a total train wreck. I'm glad we have a coach who is composed enough to not let his emotions ruin a press conference

he looks very old compared to K even though he's about 3 -4 years younger???...do you all think this was it for Roy?

I like the meme where Grayson says "Have a safe trip home, when you get back I'll show you my ring."

my favorite and completely sums it up...i know on my feed all i saw was duke related memes about us being out and them still playing....to me it seems and only from who i am around is that they are more concerned about duke...revel and enjoy your moment....duke and unc play 2x a season...unc has never put Duke out of the NCAA tournament...they love the we got further....well we sealed the deal last season, they couldn't....but 2015 was last year???, the accomplishment is forever!

I don't feel bad for any of those UNC fans who were saying, "where's Duke?" at the game. It's funny because even while they're at the championship game, they still can't stop thinking about us. It's really sweet.

short memories forget who the confetti rained down on last season

How many of their fans seated behind the basket turned their backs to the court in order to mug for the cameras behind them? They were probably on their phones during the last 30 seconds of the game.

Whatever else we might think of Roy, and how unethical we might think he is, this game didn't have anything to do w/ that. He has a sincere, close relationship w/ his players. They love each other, and they came really close to goal we all covet, too, only to have it ripped away in heartbreaking fashion. As a rival, I love it. As a human, I can sympathize.

I thought Roy's comments afterward were heartfelt, and I feel sorry for him. I feel worse for his seniors, particularly Paige, but Johnson and that other guy, too. Paige is a freakin' warrior. Yeah, we like to laugh about how he never lived up to the hype surrounding his breakout sophomore year, but he had to persevere through that, and he did, and he came up as clutch as he possibly could at the end of the biggest game of his life. Johnson annoys me when he mean mugs after a dunk, but seeing him crying reminded me that he's the favorite player of a friend of mine's 11-year-old and has been since they met during Johnson's freshman year. I know that 11-year-old was crying right along with Johnson, who he knows personally.

Better them crying than Nova (and us), but the human in me feels for them.

Roy said, "I wouldn't trade this team for anyone."
Well, I would trade them...for the team that just won!

Roy is great coach. No denying that. However, I don't feel sorry for him at all. The last few years have exposed him as a fraud. I, for one, didn't feel a single bit of remorse watching him cry like a school girl. The last thing that program deserved last night was a national championship.

Good post. I have no doubt Roy's comments weren't sincere and I know for a fact he loves his kids. In fact, I'm pretty sure Roy is probably a good person, in general.

But, his relentlessness to deny, deflect, deny some more and then deflect again doesn't sit well with me. TBH, he reminds me a lot of UNC fans. His head is completely in the sand.

In summary, while I know he hurt last night, I also know this is a game and not real life. So for that reason, please forgive me....because last night, today and tomorrow, I just don't give a sh*t about North Carolina. :p

While I agree that 'K' is very composed in most cases....you may want to check the press conference after Jason Kidd and California beat us when Hurley and Thomas Hill were seniors....he was pretty emotional himself that day....with VERY good reason.

That's true, Kirby, but that was a looooong time ago. Age is supposed to bring a little more wisdom, and composure, and I think it has with K...not so much with Roy.

I don't disagree with that but I also think when your getting near the end of your career you tend to revert to more emotion because of the finality that could be creeping up on you. I also think its so unusual for a high major program to have seniors like Roy had and the depth of those relationships can create more heartache in a situation like last night. Not defending Roy....not disagreeing with you....only saying that as a coach myself, I kind of get it and would give him a pass on that part of it. Not necessarily willing to issue a pass when it comes to the NCAA stuff.

The only person I feel badly for is Paige. Seems like a really great kid.

How sick did you feel for Trajan Langdon when he came up just short? Its crazy how similar those two's careers went and ended. Paige might be my favorite UNC player ever, he went out like a champ regardless of the score last night

Felt sick as hell for the entire '99 Duke squad. That team was just so dominant, I still can't believe we didn't win it all.

And by champ, you obviously mean ACC champ. For real though I didn't feel sick for Langdon, I felt sick for me. Only game I've ever cried over. Must be why THR is so emotional now, I get it.
