This will be a first in the history of the Upset thread..................I've never picked this team to be an Upset Special.

This weeks pick is.....The Beloved Caravan of Mt. Carmel over the highly touted Ramblers of Loyola Academy. This is going to be one of the great games of the year. I can't wait to see this Caravan team in action (not to mention, throwing down about a half dozen Gately Dogs) I think Coach Frank has been hiding a lot of his offense, just waiting to let it loose this weekend. LA was given a heck of a test last week from the greatly improved Hawks of MS. I think we saw a few spots on their defense which are exploitable. Not to mention, the boys from Wilmette have to make the long trip to Roseland on a Friday night. I've got this one going to the Men of Carmel. Final score...........MC 28 - LA 24. That's my upset for this week. What are your thoughts, and who is your upset?

Short week, two hours in traffic coming off big game not sure this qualifies as an upset for MC. By rankings perhaps, but MC pretty stacked. Just IMO Feeto.

Although this isn't your older brother's Rambler defense...I just don't see the Caravan outscoring LA.

MC has across the board deeper, better talent then last 2 years. Even with Griffith leaving. MC usually plays well as the underdog. Game at home, LA a shorter week and were extended Saturday, with the O line they have and Kennedy Thomas can bust some long runs unlike last 2 years. Last year was ugly MC wants to make amends. Before last year '10-'14 you had 2 OTs, 12-7, OT, 24-17, 10-7.

Wow Feeto, you go out on a limb picking the have-not-yet-been-tested Massey ranking #14 in Illinois beating the Massey #16 in the NATION and consensus DSR #1 and you still get your chops busted for it not being an upset.

I realize you need no defenders, but Massey has Loyola as 13 point favorites on the road. This would be a rather large upset and I applaud your cajones. Not sure the Caravan outscore them but like your pick.

Feetos upset special is a thread I cannot live without. But what's even better than his picks are the inevitable posters that will disagree that the pick can be deemed worthy of the upset label and then offer no alternative game. Great Friday entertainment Feeto.

Goes with the territory, it happens every week.

I do however think that MC should have been in the DSR this week. I know they haven't played anyone yet this year, but they have a better team on paper this year then last. The DSR is supposed to be unbiased, and not punished by easy wins or tough losses. To see a team like MS (who I am a fan of) ranked 3rd after losing a game and giving up 44 point last week, but MC at the 14 spot......... doesn't make sense to me.

Everyone's subjective interpretation of strength of schedule is going to be different. Clearly, weak and challenging schedules are important to the voters. On the other hand, wins AND losses must be factored. Makes it easy for non-voters like me to find fault because I can find fault either way.

My DVC sources are all saying Nequa over WV

Et tu Dean?;)

Where has all the love gone?

Could it be people are worried that the emotional win over GBN will create a hangover? Voodoo take - say what? 15-17 year olds having trouble re-focusing? Never heard of that?!

Could it be that NV is playing rope a dope and letting all the papers know that Robertson and Piche are nursing Injuries when in fact they have been in a hyperbolic oxygen Chamber all week waiting to break out (don't worry it's on rollers so they still hit all their classes). Voodoo take - a distinct possibility!

Could it be that folks saw a couple of WV players get hurt in the GBN game and our worried about WV depth? Voodoo take - no comment;)

Could it be that folks don't believe WV is for real this year? Meh sticks and stones. ;)

I'm going to be at the game - but am going to try and watch some of the LA vs MC game on my phone from the stands. I have 5 GB left on my data plan this month and might as well use them!!

Good luck to all (except to NV for this week only ) voodoo out!

I don't think I've ever made this pick before, but I am going with the winless Hilltoppers of JCA over the undefeated Shamrocks of St Pat's. This is a must win for JCA for them to have any chance of salvaging the season. Ill admit, this is a homer pick, but the Hillmen really need a win.

Elmwood Park over IC.

Just kidding.... I'll take Fremd over New Trier.

it will also be an upset if nobody comes to this thread to gloat about other incorrect upset picks after the games . The point is trying to call an unlikely win... "Wrong by 6 touchdowns" says the guys who don't get it.

Getting ready to head over to Eola and Ogden. Should be a great War of 204 tonight.

And it's Neuqua........not Nequa. ;-)

Looks like Coach Frank ordered up some rain in Roseland. Boy, I hope this won't cause traffic problems for the LA bus ride. I'd hate to see them have a 3 hour ride to Gately. This pick is looking better and better as the day goes on.
