I'm having a tough start of the season going 0-2, but if picking upsets were easy everyone would be doing it. For this weeks game we go out to the south suburbs. My upset for this week is ...........the winless Bulldogs of Richards High School over the 2-0 and #23 ranked Indians( not very P.C.) of Lemont High. Richards is having a really tough start of the season dropping games to LWN and Geneva. The bright spot for the Bulldogs has been the offense, putting up a combined 49 points in those losses. Lemont has started off strong, or so it seems on paper. BUT.......the offense has not been getting it done. They only scored 21 vs Plainfield S. and 15 vs Danville. Neither of these teams are ranked in the top 150 in the state. This will be the week Richards needs to right the ship. Final score.....Richards 28 - Lemont 14. That's my upset for this week. What are your thoughts, and who is your upset?

I totally agree is one of my picks as well Lemont has zero offense happening so far this season. Great defense as expected but no O

I was thinking of saying Rice over LA, but then I would not have been able to look myself in the mirror ever again.

I know I am being a homer, but I am going to go with a Joliet team for the second week in a row. How about the Joliet West Tigers shocking LWE on a big Friday night game at West. Now that would be an upset!!

I have not seen Rice play this year, but I'm hearing great things. The question is can they go way up north and win. I think LA has the biggest home field advantage of anyone. The whole day game thing throws most teams off.

I agree on the home field - the drive and the day game can throw one out of whack. Fortunately we've already have a day game under the belt. Still they'll be our strongest foe to date - hopefully we can outspeed them

I think that's baloney.

If ANYTHING, playing on Saturday gives teams one less preparation day before next Friday's game. That's as much as I will give you.

Other than that, you are saying that a Crusader would rather wake up on Friday morning at 6:00 a.m., start a full day of classes at 7:00 a.m., hop on a bus after school, and drive to Wilmette for the 90+ minutes it would take on a Friday afternoon to play a 7:30 p.m. game under the lights, 13 hours after he woke up....as opposed to waking at a more reasonable hour on Saturday morning, head to Rice, and hop on a bus for the no more than 60 minute late Saturday morning drive to Wilmette for a 1:30 p.m. game.

Yes...I'd much rather play on Friday night. Much of high school football is about routine. Daytime football is a different animal.

Daytime football is a different animal.

You are making it sound like it is harder to play during the light of day...even though teams practice in daylight every day.

Are you talking about it being different primarily for PLAYERS or is it that you don't like daylight games as a fan.?

Are you saying would rather, or it would not be fair to have a 13 hour day with a game? I feel very comfortable saying most kids go through that all season without any issue. Also, why would the kids not be able to stay after school to watch the sophomore game, or have a film session?

The nice thing about a Saturday game is that its' usually at 1 pm and you have time to not rush home from work - you can get up there with lesser traffic. I'm sure Rice would have left at 3 pm to make a 7 pm game today to get up there in time for warm-ups

even for baseball from MC during the week had to leave early and miss last class to make a 430 game. Horrific traffic /location. when it rained in '13 took me 2 and a half hours to get home
