I'm labeling this "The Week of the Upset". We could see as many as 3 of the top 10 ranked teams lose this weekend. The question is, which one, if any, is my special? For this weeks game we go to the Central Suburban South Conference, for a battle in Park Ridge. This weeks upset is..........The 4 - 2 and unranked Hawks of Maine South over the #17 ranked and undefeated Trevians of New Trier. MS comes into this game with a 72 game conference win streak on the line, and I don't see the Trevians ending it tonight. New Trier spent the early season getting fat off weak opponents, while the Hawks were getting tough vs teams like Montini and Loyola. MS QB Brian Collins is yet another on the list of outstanding Hawk gunslingers, and I see him having a big night. . I don't even see this one being close. In a big statemant game, I have a final score in this one .........Maine South 42 - New Trier 14. That's my upset. What are your thoughts, and who is your upset?

I was really tempted to go with OPRF, but GW has already burnt me this year.

Not feeling the Hitters this year eh? Maybe after this week a little more faith. Anyway, a girl can dream

Give me LWE as Homer-Flosswood comes out over confident and under tested. LWE knows how to beat H-F and will push all the right buttons. That might make it very scary for the 8A field as H-F may come out of this totally motivated.

I hope you are right Feeto! It will definitely be closer though. Also the game is at NT if that changes your mind at all.

Interesting pick.
I like Plainfield East's defense. I just don't know if they can score enough to beat the Panthers.
I agree. It's all going to come down to their offensive line. They definitely have a talented running back who is looking for that break-out game. No better time than now when their back is against the wall. IF they can pull this out they may have a shot making the playoffs as a 5-4 team.

I just didn't have the gumption to pick Ike over Richards. I think that one is really close though. PC is going all in next week vs Rice but tonight is not a gimmie. I think they get it done though.

Jacobs over C-G
Not so sure that would be an upset, Dean. Jacobs is a heck of a team and played Huntley much better than CG did a couple of weeks ago. Home game for CG tomorrow (Homecoming) so that may give CG the edge, but this is a pick-em game to me.

I love ya Feeto, but picking a team who hasn't lost a conference game since 2000 as your upset pick doesn't do it for me. If therei were lines on HS games, Maine South is giving 10.5 points at least.

Ironic though. Many on this board used the term "Maine Southing" when referring to the Hawks penchant to flee-flicker a late meaningless TD rather than take a knee late last decade. It's seems you're looking to run up your score too.... Hence, Maine Southing with Maine South.

It wouldn't be fair for me to tease your pick and not offer my own… Give me the Leyden Eagles over Hinsdale South… Go David DeMarais!

Ok I'm protesting. Even though I have said on the free board that NT is the favorite over MS to make this the upset is ludicrous. We all know about Maine South's umpteenth's game streak. PICK AN ACTUAL UPSET.

I'm with Catch and Gooms. MS is a heavy favorite in this game.

Favorite only because of history. Now I know that history has repeated itself for 15 years but this is a different team on both sides.

This makes no sense..........YOU CALLED NT THE FAVORITE. Not it's not an upset? NT is in the top 20 in EVERY POLL. MS is not in any of the polls. This is clearly a good upset call.

Thornton over Lincoln Way North

Note: I know this is not a huge upset on a single game level but IF Thornton does win, they will win the SWSR outright. Not a lot of people outside of Harvey expected that prior to the season so more of a Conference Title Upset pick.

USD, you nailed it and I still say wow.
Bishop Mac has always been a tough team, but, Providence is expected to be at a different level.
