I’ve been pretty excited about this movie since the first teasers trailers came out. The Joker in an R rated movie has my attention.

I'm just not really that excited to see this one. Maybe due to feeling like there's nowhere for the character to go but down after Ledger's performance in The Dark Knight. Jared Leto's Joker was already pretty meh in Suicide Squad.

Have a feeling Joaquin is really good in this one, but Ledger is too tough to outdo. I may see it but will have to be when it comes on tv (HBO, Showtime, whatever).

I may be in the minority on this one but put me in the camp that thinks the Joker shouldn't have or need an origin story as the mystery to his madness has always been one of his defining traits. He is pure chaos and chaos has no rhyme or reason. I'm sure Phoenix knocks it out of the park tho.

I think they should have a Joker movie that works kind of like those KFC commercials. The actor playing the Joker keeps changing throughout the film, maybe even shot to shot. Dicaprio, Jim Carrey, Tom Hanks, Daniel Day Lewis, Ed Norton, Jim Gaffigan, Michael Keaton just for kicks, etc.

You didn't like The Killing Joke? Isn't that one of the most beloved / revered stories in the DC universe?

I mean its definately great story telling but I stand by my post. Plus that book had a lot of Batman in it.

As someone who isn't interested in most comic book movies, I see some potential from the previews.

Looks solid. I think it’ll be a good movie. The Joker is a tough character to do right. Ledger was amazing and will always be hard to follow up. That said, I think Phoenix will do just that.

He's one of those characters that has a long history and was always a mainstay of the comics. It looks like it's going to be a fun ride.

Looks great. But I actually think it would've been better as a standalone not as the joker. It isn't tied into the DC universe anyway. And the only real defining characteristic (apparently) is we know he's the joker.

I agree about Leto, but Phoenix is a better actor than Leto and even Ledger IMO. This should be interesting.

Yeah not sure how anyone can watch that trailer and not think that’s gonna be a pretty kickass movie.

I’m not a comic book guy and I don’t know the backstories and such, but Phoenix as Joker seems about as solid as anyone I can think of.

Looks like one worth watching. He certainly won't beat Ledger's version but it can still be good.

I'm a huge comic book (mostly Marvel) movie fan but this one just doesn't appeal to me that much. I guess because it doesn't feel like a comic book movie. It just seems like a regular drama type of movie and not the usual action flick they normally are. I'll probably see it on the cheap movie day at the cinemas or when it comes out on Blu-ray to rent but as of now, I likely won't be adding it to my movie collection.

I put “Killing Joke” on the same level as Gotham by gaslight or the Vampire Batman stuff cool but not a definitive accurate story.

In The Killing Joke, the Joker's origin's told through the Joker's memories, and the Joker states that his memory isn't reliable. The writer did that deliberately, to keep the Joker's origin ambiguous.
