Beat the three powers, Rutgers, Maryland and Purdue.
At least a split with the teams without a pulse: Minnesota and Washington.
The BWICAC will then declare this an incredibly successful season and spend the off-season spinning tales of the legend of Coach Matt Campbell.

We're 3-4 but we could be favored in all of our remaining games. What do you say? If you see future losses, who will we lose to?

I think we lose only to Minnesota the rest of the way.
7-5 was my prediction at the start of the season so I'm not changing now even if that looks unrealistic.

What were the odds on PSU losing four straight, three of which they were favored?
Implied odds of losing each game based on the closing line...
Michigan - 66.9%
USC - 51.08%
Northwestern - 41.7%
Wisconsin - 24%

Overall chance of going 0-4 = just over 3.4% (about an order of magnitude more than the chances of not winning another game)

I think we can win out. I don't see anyone else on our schedule that scares me except and I can't believe I"m sayin this but Rutgers could be an issue.
I would like to see our identity become a passing team. Bombs away in old Bombay.
I'll have what you're smoking

Why can't we vote for "excellence at the highest level?"
Because we are still trying for the "elite" promised by BJG the motormouth. While we "dominate the state".

Great coaches accomplish, then talk about it. Failures talk about it, "Success with honor", "We do things the right way", blah blah blah.

You sure talk a lot without saying anything. I'm sure you were one of those doing the talking instead of getting things done. It's no wonder you were so taken with BGJ, right up your alley. All show, no go.

Franklin was 4-4 thru his first 8 games at PSU with a 4 game losing streak. Can I assume you crapped all over him that season?

Oh yeah, I remember "coach" constantly on Franklin's ***. He's a fair guy. HaHaHa

He's more enamored with BGJ's show of greed, how he milked PS out of millions. A real backer of the program.

Not sure if he did but there were a whole lot at the Minny game in 2016 that wanted it done.
Its interesting though that I read an article about why more coaches aren't being fired and apparently no one wants to be us.

For the love of...
8-4 or 7-5 is better than last year...period
Nothing he can do is an incredibly successful season
They win out and there's still endless questions.
All 8-4 does assuming Howard is the catalyst is up NIL money to existing players. Changes nothing else

Franklin had a roster with 65 scholarship players and 4 offensive linemen when he got here. Remember the sanctions that limited us to 15 scholarships per year? How soon we forget. He also won a Big Ten Championship in his 3rd year.
I thought Campbell was hired to improve the program. You know, win the big game. I read it right here that he only had to show up to be better than Franklin at everything! How's that working out?

I don’t think the final record will change the overwhelming sense of failure this season has become. The remaining opponents are mostly 2nd tier and bottom dweller teams in 2026. Washington is a top tier program going through similar transition pains. Beating up the mediocre and weak teams and losing to the strong teams leaves Penn State in the same position it has been in since 2016. Not good enough.

On a more positive note, I do think Campbell deserves at least 2 more years to clean up a mess he inherited. I am hoping he has learned the hard way that 2nd tier players will not cut it in the B1G.
We’re a 2nd tier and bottom dwelling program…take the wins where you can get them.

Final record 5-7

You're assuming we're not the worst team in the b1g. Given the new and different ways we find to lose games even to really bad teams (like scUM this past week who came in with 3 losses in reality including a really bad loss to Western Michigan), but they were still good enough to easily pull away from us in the 4th quarter. It's quite clear that this team can, and will, lose to any b1g team. Campbell's FAs stink and we're one of the worst, if not the worst, 4th quarter teams in the country. This team isn't good enough to blowout anyone in the b1g and their defense & RZ offense spell doom in close games that go into the 4th quarter.

"It's quite clear that this team can, and will, lose to any b1g team" - you'd literally be the worst gambler in history if that's what you actually think. Luckily, we play 4 teams that we'll be a TD+ favorite over in the coming months...we'll see how well your "this team will lose to any b1g team" holds up.

Then again, you called a 3 point win a game that Michigan "easily pulled away from us".

LMFAO, scUM went up by 10 after Becht's bonehead fumble scrambling around 10 yards behind the LOS ON 1st DOWN (with 5 minutes remaining and a compromised TO situation due to Campbell having to burn TOs due to late substitutions) rather than just throwing the ball away to avoid the loss and stop the clock.... instead, he allows himself to be sacked 10 yards behind the LOS and then fumbles the ball because he's winging it around like a loaf of bread in one hand...... the ball goes another several yards backwards and scUM recovers it at PSU's 13 yard line. GAME OVER - scUM scores 2 minutes and 3 plays later to go up by 10. PSU gets the ball back with 2:51 and no TOs down by 10..... PSU proceeds to take 11 plays and a 1:40 to score against scUM's prevent defense..... then attempts an Onside Kick which is easily recovered by scUM who runs the clock out on 3 snaps including an 8 yard run for a 1st Down on the second snap. And scUM is an awful team who lost to Western Michigan for Pete's sake, but that game was OVER, OVER, OVER prior to PSU's meaningless final score which scUM largely allowed to burn clock (it was an 11 play drive with very little time on the clock). I guess PSU is all about "moral wins" over bad teams and this is your definition of highly competitive football.

29th in SP+. 23rd in Sagarin. Would be favored over about 80% of the D1 teams if they played today (and over 60% of the Power 4 teams). You have no concept of what an "awful team" actually is if you consider Michigan to be "awful" (then again, you're obviously far from objective when you use elementary school level insults when talking about them...no offense to elementary school kids of course).

I went for 6-6. I think the ISU transfers were lulled into a false sense after security after the first three games. “Hey, playing here isn’t so hard!!” Now they’re in the process of adapting to the reality. I think they’ll get squared away enough to at least go 3-2 over the final five games.

Michigan’s first half offense was even worse than ours. I have not seen a much worse offense…Underwood showed clearly that he better start playing Tight End. He’s not a college QB…he was DJ Ugaulallieesque in how awful he was. We win that game by 14 if he stays in. The reason Michigan waited to pull him was because of how much money he was getting paid. They wasted THAT much money on a bum. Our NIL see’s that and thinks twice…
