Predictions? Thoughts

for our Hawks, I’m going contrary to popular opinion and thats that Buchanan gets it done but Spencer comes up short. In which case if Spencer does, there’ll be a lot of talk I’m sure about his future rtc plans given we’re 2 years out from LA’28
65kg: gimme Bo. Woods is like Spencer and fades in 2nd periods which makes me think he’ll get chased down, especially if it goes to a 3rd match.

Someone (likely Spooner) correct me if I am wrong, but wasn't Spencer controlling the match with LL pretty well until he tweaked his elbow? And let's not over react to an end of the match desperation throw that was hit. I see a two match win for Lee with possibly a tech in the first and maybe a 5-2 give or take in the second. Give me Woods in three and while I would love to see Buchanan, too much experience going against him and I see him losing in three.

Lillendahl is talented and lightning fast but Spencer has the bigger arsenal and brute force. Spencer in 2 but if it goes 3 and deep into the 2nd, I might favor LL.

Woods must be looking at Bassetts vs Stanich matches. Woods has really looked good in free so I'm going with him to replicate Stanich and take it in 2. So then, does Bo get mad at VTech for not training him up.

I would be so overjoyed if Buchanan sent Snyder packing for the girls of the night but I have to think Snyder in 2.

Spencer needs to have a better game plan than pushouts. He did not commit to finishing TDs at the Open and it ended up biting him in the arse.
That said, it took an injury and a last-second prayer for Spencer to lose, but injuries and big moves have been his kryptonite.
I'd really like to see him aggressively attack LL and set the tone.
SL 8-2
SL 6-0

Bo has improved at a huge clip since last summer but I'm not quite sure he's ready for Woods. That said, if Bo can make the matches high paced and get Woods a bit tired, we could see an upset.
RW 8-4
BB 6-4
RW 7-4

Buchanan has faded late in some of his FS matches. That won't be a problem this weekend but it's because I think he gets teched twice.
KS 10-0
KS 12-2

Other matches
Jax 2-0
Zain 2-1
Carr 2-0
Chance 2-1
Zahid 2-0
Parris 2-1 expect 🎆 🎇 🎆

Was thinking the same thing on Spencer, wonder if his thinking is would be expending less energy on push outs vs takedowns cause LL can be difficult to takedown. Still think if he gets a takedown, he should also be able to turn Lillendahl a couple of times if not more. With Spencer, it always seems to come down to the first minute or minute and a half of the match, puts it out of reach or struggles the rest of the way.

Anyone know why Messenbrink isn't wrestling this summer? I know he talked about burnout last year but is he still planning to wrestle more?

More stringent testing? Just spitballing. But '28 isn't all that far away to be taking a pass on international fs competition. It's a little odd for sure.
Not really odd many foreigners takeoff the year after Olympics or the following. Break now and be ready for 27 which sets you up in the drivers seat for 28 if you medal

Vhsalum said he is quitting wrestling for a music career. Vhsalum never lies so.......

lol

Never said this. BUT… MM is just a weird dude. It’s possible he leaves wrestling after next college season, it’s possible he wrestles for the next decade

It sounds like the weight cut got to him and he didn’t want to do that again this summer. Also, 2027 is THE year, so if 2028 is truly still a goal, we’ll see him.

I thought he said himself that he wanted to put more focus into music.

I think there’s some truth to him not wanting to expend too much energy. However, the more I watched it I do think he actually tried to finish on 2/3 of the shots, felt he wouldn’t be able to and then pivoted to the push out.

Would love to know how you arrived at these options based on this thread

Perhaps I based it on years of reading comments beyond this thread (which did have mentions of Luke winning last time due to injury), and was trying to poke some fun during a boring time in the off-season.

What do you expect from an IOWA HAWKEYE Message Board? Most folks here are going to favor Spencer Lee over LL.... Most Hawk Fans are going to give the benefit of the doubt of his losses because he was a Hawkeye... I would not expect to go to the Penn State board and hear anything less than PSU fans giving total and complete support to Luke.... If you are expecting to come to this board and find Iowa Fans on their knees and anointing LL as the best wrestler to ever grace the mat and a true champion and warrior over Spencer Lee, it just ain't gonna happen. Biased Hawkeye fans are going to say Spencer lost becaue he was hurt or sick or whatever because we believe he is better than Luke. If it frustrates you that Iowa fans aren't licking Luke's nuts than maybe go back to your own board. I am sure you will find LL homers over there...

Yep. Sounds like a move to Fargo.

Hope he's healthy soon.
We could get it as late as September if need be. It must be done before the final training camp which is usually 2 weeks out. Helen got hers moved to Oct 6 in 2018 two weeks from Worlds

Dake had his moved in 2019 and went and competed in Spain before final X. Wouldn't shock me if Real competes before final x
