#3 is an injury away from being on the World Team.
Doesn't matter, the national team members get the benefits and it's a hell of an achievement.
#3 would be 2 injuries away . The stipend is crap. Davino will make more wrestling Desanto at RAF then he would've from the year stipend from UsaW had he got 3rd. Desanto and Davino will wrestle in July at RAF

Holy f*cking sh*t, guys. Just chill.

It's a fantastic accomplishment for the athletes and the HWC, no need to diminish it.

Why does this board suck horse crank?? Spence made a world team, DeSanchize got 3rd Buchannan got 2nd. I don’t see Top 20 recruits lining up to commit, so let’s be happy with what we got. Christ.

Iowa actually has a bunch of top 20 guys committed for the next two classes. Whether the coaches will be around to see it is another story.

(Admitted Spencer Fanboy) I'm still super stoked about yesterday's win. Especially with Basch's narrative of "Luke's win will be a passing of the guard." Being down 4-0 and bull dogging his was back to win 8-4. Right now I think Spencer gets him 9 out of 10 times.
Must be why Basch’s tweet noting Spencer’s series win was so glum.

All things considered (elbow, potential concussion), I thought Spencer looked as good yesterday as he has in awhile (certainly later in the match).

also good to see him finishing those shots he failed to finish at the open

Great to see. He wrestled well despite not being close to 100%, especially in match 2. Hopefully the elbow heals up before worlds, must have just been a sprain vs a complete tear.
Thought the same. Spencer got double under hooks but backed out pretty quickly. Should have been very favorable position with his strength advantage over LL.

Only problem is is I don’t think we ever see him fully healthy again. Just too much wear and tear in his body. The evidence is there. Over the last X amount of years he just can’t seem to stay healthy. Nothing that makes me think that that’s gonna change anytime soon. Feel like this is his last run. I hope I’m wrong.

This series is real close to surpassing Spencer's oly wins against Gilman as my favorite sets of matches for Spencer. They're both special but I really loved seeing his transformation into a 2nd period wrestler. He outscored and just in general owned the 2nd periods in both matches.
Spencer looked really good. His strength advantage to Luke is so apparent. In fairness to Luke though, Spencer always looks to be stronger than his opponents. It appears that for Luke to close the gap he is going to have to add a lot of strength. With his frame, I am not sure if he can add much muscle without outgrowing the weight. Spencer's conditioning definitely looked improved. Hopefully he is healthy for the World Championships. I wish him success.

He'll be out there with duck tape and bailing wire holding him together as long as LA28 is still an option

He was probably looking for a certain feel with an immediate result. If it’s not there don’t play with fire.
