Who would have guessed at the start of the season that we would be projected a 1 seed and Kansas would be a 3 in our region, when people were crowning them national champs already

Also, Georgia being projected higher than Arkansas currently is objectively hilarious.

I'm surprised he has Oklahoma so low (7 seed) given they are a borderline Top-10 team currently.

Didn't the Big East get all four Number 1 seeds back in the mid-2000's? I think Pitt, Louisville, Villanova and maybe UCONN were all 1 seeds from the same conference. Might need to fact-check that.
3 is the most any conference has had in a single NCAA Tournament.

2019 - ACC - Duke, UNC, Virginia
2009 - Big East - UConn, Louisville, Pittsburgh

Looks like they had 3 one seeds that year. I was really curious and had to google around. Found this random B10 article from 2021, but states the ACC (2019) and Big East (2009) had 3 one seeds.

It's December, there are 20+ games left to play, this will in no way be close to what actually happens.

It's a fun exercise ( I guess) but I never understand why anyone gets overly excited (good or bad) when these come out.

To be honest I like our team as it was total rebuild . Yea we are 4th. However the SEC is a slaughterhouse and most play physical ball our greatest weakness. Best seed i see us happening when said an done is likely a 3 seed . Something anyone here would of been happy for pre season. Say outside shot at a 2.

if we're on from 3 we best anyone . If we struggle from 3 some then there's 6/7 teams that give us an L.

On one hand, it is a bit meaningless as there's still a ton of games.

Also .......just one person. One person's opinion on where teams are at.

Having said that, I do think this provides a good snapshot of at least what path the teams are currently on. I think that has "some use". Given this is like the only thing the guy does, he's probably looking at resumes closer than anyone. I think there's some merit with that.

USC is the worst team record wise in the SEC at 7-3. That would be good for 7th in the ACC with 12 teams having a worse record. 😂

1 big problem is that puke in that cupcake acc prolly wont lose over 2 games.
gonzaga very may well win out.
thats 2 # 1 seeds that are 'probable'
then u got kansas that will always be the medias darling.
so u got uk, tenn, bama, and auburn and maybe someone else fighting for that last #1.
holla back if it dont work out like that

We'd play #9 Arkansas in the second round. You know, in a dream world where a Cal team makes it to the second round.
You just know the committee is licking their lips to give us a potential r32/s16 matchup with Arkansas assuming the seedlings allow it…..and then they’ll immediately also put a statement out about how they don’t try to put made for tv and storyline matchups together

I'm not sold on us deserving a number one seed at this point. Our defense is suspect and we all know legitimate Final Four teams almost always have top 30 defenses. KenPom currently has us at #44. The good news is we have a lot of room to grow in that area. And I think we will.

i don't want that. a pissed off cal, could hero win a game against us, then promptly lose by 20 the next game.
First I really loved Cal and really appreciated some great years of basketball under him.
Great guy too.

That said if recent track record holds, if we don’t face him until the second round, we probably wont face him…

I'll get dragged for this.. but I'm not sure we're truly a top5 team. I personally think we're in the 6 to 10 range and more like a 2 or 3 seed. I also wouldn't be shocked if we find ourselves, at one point, falling back into the high teens or something, maybe during a tough SEC stretch later on.

We got the win over a pretty good UofL team, but that was with Butler playing (I still think we lose if he doesn't play, based on what we've seen from the game), UofL having their own injuries, and some very bad (but deserved) foul trouble limiting their team. I'm concerned that after Butler, our talent is really lacking and I think thats gonna bite us in SEC play. If we have trouble going for loose balls and finishing strong defensive plays, we're gonna get thumped.

Win your marquee games and not lose to mid majors really helps with seeding.

A looooong way from March right now. We are going to take several L's in the SEC. I'm hoping we are a #3 or #4 seed by tournament time. That would be a solid achievement for this team given the toughness of our conference top to bottom.

Not sure anyone deserves rankings this early, but it is nice. I know how ESPN guys think, next game we lose they will drop us 12 spots.

I never understand why anybody is selfish and inconsiderate enough to completely ruin the game threads, on purpose to where some people don't even look at them anymore.......but what a world.

Just an FYI, we ALL know this is December and this isn't the real bracket, trust me, we all get it.

This is just a fun thing to look at, that's all, so please don't rush in here to remind us that it’s a meaningless bracket, we all know that.

Hey Digger, did you know this isn’t the officially produced bracket from Selection Sunday?

I kinda am getting tired of reading how we are definately gonna lose several games in conf play.
It seems weak and sniveling.
We might, but I am not resigning myself to it.

This process of speculating in December and January, even Feb, who is seeded where is one of the dumbest things we do.

The top SEC teams will.all have great non conference wins and will not be penalized for cannibalizing each other in conference play. I can see 3 conf teams getting 1 seeds if the resumes warrant it comparatively speaking.

also, college bball seems deeper this yea with more quality, formidable teams. 8/9 winners will test the 1 seeds.

Theoretically, what would happen if a conference was so far and above everyone else but insanely evenly matched within?

Say the conference went undefeated against ACC/B10/BigXII and the best of the rest, but in conference every team went .500? How would the metrics rank those teams?
