Gavitt is tone-deaf. The public is experiencing a once in a lifetime event and could use a break from what we expect to be a long slow process back to normalcySomeone on Twitter, let it be heard.
Agree. Really really bad and arrogant take.Gavitt is tone-deaf. The public is experiencing a once in a lifetime event and could use a break from what we expect to be a long slow process back to normalcy
No money to be made I suppose.
They would likely have a record number of people watching since it is the closest you're going to get to live sports for some time.People would watch it . They could sell advertising.
Completely agreeThey would likely have a record number of people watching since it is the closest you're going to get to live sports for some time.
Maybe, but most of the teams are in already. Obviously there isn’t one fan base as starved for this as we are. How much of our desire is simply because our team and fan base are the most aggrieved ? I’d watch , but how many of our conference mates really care? I still can’t believe itThey would likely have a record number of people watching since it is the closest you're going to get to live sports for some time.
In a normal situation, most conference mates wouldn't watch it but this isn't normal times. We've lost all LIVE sports and this is the closest you'll get to it for some time. People are hungry for some type of entertainment.Maybe, but most of the teams are in already. Obviously there isn’t one fan base as starved for this as we are. How much of our desire is simply because our team and fan base are the most aggrieved ? I’d watch , but how many of our conference mates really care? I still can’t believe it
What did Dan Gavitt say that has people riled up?
They didn’t need to bracket based on hypotheticals. Crown regular season champs as needed and make the selections based on available info just like they would have had to do if the tournament went on. Just pompous nonsense.Agree... very tone-deaf..... even if you don't release brackets you could have released a list of 68-70 teams that "would have been in the final decision process when the season ended".....
I never understood this hire. The NCAA knew what type of leadership they were getting when they hired Gavitt. Gavitt was part of the Big East crew that destroyed that conference. You get what you pay for and for the NCAA that is status quo aka yearly failure and missteps.
They didn’t need to bracket based on hypotheticals. Crown regular season champs as needed and make the selections based on available info just like they would have had to do if the tournament went on. Just pompous nonsense.
The committee released their projected Top 16 seeds earlier this season. Those weren't hypotheticals?
Oh that. Yeah, he'll get some heat for that. I think it is the right decision. If all of the conference tournaments had been completed then I'd be all for releasing the bracket.he said it was his decision and his decision alone to not release the brackets
Then why release their Top 16 seeds mid-season?Oh that. Yeah, he'll get some heat for that. I think it is the right decision. If all of the conference tournaments had been completed then I'd be all for releasing the bracket.
Glad you brought that up. I'm against that also. Then why release their Top 16 seeds mid-season?
No one would care. Just fans of teams with a 29 year drought.
What did he do??Someone on Twitter, let it be heard. What a heartless jerk.
True. I overstated it. It’s not ALL of the fans of a team with a 29 year drought. You are wrong
