Lane may not be the greatest recruiter. He has been a portal disciple. Maybe that is because he isn't a good recruiter? I don't recall a lot of big time recruiting wins for him at Ole Miss. He was sort of a portal master there, bringing in hired guns with NIL money.

I could easily see him being an arrogant prick to recruits and turning them and their parents off. That seems to be his personality and he can't change that. Telling Ashlon "you'll be working in a gas station" was massively stupid.

Perhaps, but that type of selling has far less impact in the era of NIL. Duckworth would probably make more money next year at _any_ SEC program than the vast majority of cardiothoracic surgeons in the country.
