the hold on Conrad on the FG was a smart play. that ball was blocked and possibly returned for a TD. Austin had about two yards to play with that FG attempt with the hold. I don't think he could of got it there after the five. Then the Delay was smart to give an extra five yards to play with. But the punter booted it completely out of endzone which was probably his longest punt of the year. lol

Defense held, got good field position, and then scored a TD. but the hold on Conrad could of been a blessing in disguise. the guy got a great jump outside.

I thought Austin deserved the attempt, too. After all, we're not having most of these conversations if he misses from 52 against Miss State. He deserved the chance ....

Had no real problem with the run-run-pass sequence. Not crazy about a fade route - that calls for a QB with good accuracy, not sure we have that. First and goal from the 9 is a tough deal, the field flattens, all your defenders are bunched closer to the LOS, don't have much room to operate in. If you have a limited passing game, as we do, the play caller's hands are tied even more.

I know one thing - the absolute worse case scenario, the only thing that we could not do, is have a turnover. Which means Gran's hands are tied even more. Maybe a slant? I don't know - like I said, not crazy about the fade there with that personnel, but I don't know that he had a lot of other options.....

A million times this. Every single word of it.
SJ's limitations make any pass difficult for us inside the 10. How many completions do we have on passes inside the 10 all year? Not many.

IT was not the play call it was the terrible throw that led Baker 2 feet out of bounds. Got to give Dorian the chance to make a play. The play should have been the skinny slants that every pro team runs in those situations. You have to be cross the face of the defender and beat him, position in front of defender and use your body as a shield. I saw Green Bay, Titans, Oakland all ran it yesterday at some point. Titans lined up TE in slot and WR out, both ran the skinny posts.

Problem is they told Johnson, we have 3 in your back pocket so don't throw int.
Hard to make that throw without giving your guy a chance.

Love this team. I too was mad about outcome but this team is playing their hearts out every game. I know SJ isn't the best passer but I am wondering why we don't run him out of the pocket and give him an option to run or throw. If you notice every time he has fumbled has been when he is standing in the pocket. This would be a great way to get the ball to Conrad also. Just my thoughts. GO CATS!!!!!!

I remember Musberger talking about seeing Benny throwing passes in practice. His comments were positive. I would have liked to see on 2nd down, stay in the wildcat and let him have the option to throw it. One step toward the line of scrimmage and maybe they bite and someone is open.
Risky, but a good chance of fooling uga. It works and everyone is a genius. And maybe we win....

I don't remember it but the line shows Snell as throwing one completion for 19 yards against UGA.

Yes! When I saw the 3rd down play was going to be the fade pass my heart sank. That play is hard enough for pro QB's and receivers to connect on. Something more creative to grab a huge opportunity would have been something I could have more easily lived with.

That's not what happened. Baker ran to the sideline immediately & SJ had to under throw Baker to keep it in bounds - Baker was reaching back inbounds for ball as he jumped out of bounds. It wasn't like the DB couldn't get to the ball.

Issue was Baker didn't stay far enough from the sideline but went to the sideline edge with the DB between him & the ball. There was no place in that situation SJ could have thrown it to be caught in bounds. Instead of running straight for sideline, Baker should have gone straight upfield & then out. Net, I primarily fault Baker's route.
