It will be an interesting contrast tonight, as Iowa, the No. 1 scoring offense in the Big Ten, takes on Northwestern, the worst scoring offense in the Big Ten.

The Hawkeyes have Luke Garza, the Big Ten's top scorer at 22 points a game and the only Power Five player in the country averaging 20 and 10 per game. Ryan Young will have his work cut out for him with Garza -- whom NU recruited hard, by the way -- and I expect NU to double him in the post. Iowa averages 79.6 points per game and NU will want to slow the tempo and keep it in the 60s.

Iowa is banged up and just a game ahead of NU in the Big Ten standings. They lost to Nebraska on the road last week but thumped Maryland at home -- about par for the course in the Big Ten this season.

Looks like a pretty sparse turnout tonight. Three minutes before tip the stands are about a quarter full and there's more black than purple. There are less than 20 students in each student section right now.

At the first media timeout, it's Garza 10, Northwestern 9.

He's hit two 3s, a layup and a jumper in the lane so far. He was in double figures by the four-minute mark. He's a monster.

Quick browse of ticket resale sites, only a few, expensive tickets available. And still sparse crowd. Weird.

Greer is playing much better defense but he is such a non-threat on the offensive end. We really really miss Boo.

21 all at the time out. Beran got called for traveling, looked like he got smacked and Rex its the ball from up here.

cats playing pretty well, but missed some good opportunities to push up a lead.

Garza is back in for Iowa. Without him, Iowa outscored NU 5-2 to tie it at 21. The Cats failed to take advantage with the big fella on the bench.

NU has a 15-4 edge in rebounds and 11-2 in second-chance points.

Even though we’re down, hard not to be impressed by how we’ve weathered 8-16 from 3. Hopefully Iowa cools off ...

We need to get a whole lot better on defense. Offense has been pretty above average for our standards. Hard to expect much more on that end.

Such a frustrating game. We look like we're the better team except we don't make shots and they do.
