We waited to start the first-half thread because Northwestern usually waits to start the game until the under-16 break anyway.

Crappy shooting teams look like garbage. NU has good athletes and players but no scorers. We are a bottom feeder this year. I hope to avoid last place in B1G.

Just amazing how poorly this team shoots. Most of them at some time in their career were much better than this.

Uggh... we're a bad basketball team. I know our recruitment has gotten better under CC, but it seems the rest of the BIG has too. We still are never as athletic or big as the teams we play in this conference.

NU missed 12 straight shots and went 7:23 between buckets.

It’s awfully tough to win that way.

Yeah, these slow starts are getting to be the norm.

We are longer and more athletic than any NU team I’ve seen but MD athletes and size makes us look small and slow. Where do all these guys come from? We get excited about top 100 recruits but there’s a reason they aren’t top 25-50. Fernando looks like a futuristic Greek god.

I love our guys. They play their butts off. I just wish they had more skill on offense. We would be interesting with a couple scorers on this team.

And on this note, I just don't understand how Falzon wasn't getting more minutes earlier in the year.

I know Falzon is not super quick but he has made a number of solid defensive plays, just guarded their big successfully, should’ve drawn a charge, got a couple rebounds. Definitely not a liability on defense, seems to play with his head. And he is the only guy who can hit 3s when not perfectly set.

We have 3x 1000+ point career scorers (Law, Pardon, Taylor). Can't blame lack of experience or offensive skills there.

Taylor scored those in weaker league. Law's offensive game has disappeared, which has to be from injury. That leaves just Pardon who is doing everything he can, but can't carry this load alone.

Taylor just has no confidence in his shot at the moment. He missed on a couple of fairly open looks..

Can we please give up on the Ryan Taylor experiment and give those minutes to Kopp??

Why are Taylor and Turner playing at all? If they’re not doing anything on offense and we’re not doing anything, might as well give the younger guys run

This is egregious offencive basketball. this team cant shoot law Taylor Turner have missed everything. Just amazing. I guess the people that picked us 12 to 13th in the preseason knew what they were talking about.

Very similar feeling to the Wisconsin game. Playing good enough defense, but the offense not doing anything. Even when we create a good shot, we aren’t hitting anything. Tough to watch.

I really can't believe how few minutes Miller Kopp gets these days. This is a team that clearly isn't going anywhere. If we're going to succeed at all in the next couple years, guys like Kopp need to develop.

Our offense is pretty brutal, has been for the last two seasons.

This is the charitable version of what I'm thinking watching this game.

Effort's not a question, and that's a good thing. Their halfcourt defense is usually fine, and they typically take care of the ball pretty well. But the consistent inability to make a shot outside of a random onslaught (Turner vs. DePaul, Falzon vs. Indiana) is awful. Scoreless droughts have been a consistent issue for Collins' teams, but this roster compounds them by missing open shots.

I approve of the kids dressing as Mark Turgeon. They're having a good time.

Law has been totally absent on offense. Pardon uncharacteristicallu out of sync the last couple games just as we start committing to get him the ball.

Fernando is a first round NBA pick for a reason.

The six day break ahead can’t come quickly enough. It’d be great to see him get his knee right and finish his career well.

That's just Northwestern basketball in a nutshell. Double foul... they get two shots and make them both. We get two shots and miss one. Just seems like we always come up short in this sport. What an ugly half.

How in heaven’s name can Gaines be called on that? I am normally on the ref’s side, but that is bs.

Bad call by refs. Even the announcers were dumbfounded.

Then the last shot by Turner had no chance. 5 seconds should be plenty to get a better play.

If we had any semblance of an offense, our D would be keeping us in the game. We are down 11 after going 2-13 beyond the arc (all good or reasonably good looks) and missing plenty of opportunities inside the arc. You just can't shoot 23% from the floor (15% from three)!

Is this a replay of Saturday? What abysmal shooting.

68 points on 23-for-85 shooting our last 3 halves. Ugly. Defense has been OK enough to give us a chance but I don’t know what the plan is on offense. One of the last possessions of the half was literally 4 guys standing completely still while Law dribbled back and forth and missed a fallaway 18-footer.

Nobody has any confidence in their shooting right now except for Falzon and Pardon. That can be contagious.
