Just listened to Wayne Messmer's stirring rendition of the national anthm and am now getting ready for tip. There's a definite buzz at Welsh-Ryan again tonight. I could get used to this.

Isiah Brown getting the start in place of Scottie Lindsey again.

I hope the shooting struggles don't continue again tonight... boys could use a real confidence builder.

The first two NU buckets were dunks tonight. Interesting matchup tonight: Isiah Brown vs. Te'Jon Lucas. Both are freshmen.

That was a heck of a play by Lumpkin, running down Morgan on the break to get the block.

4-2 NU at the under 16 timeout.

NU and Illinois have combined for 3-13 shooting thus far.

Looks like the renovation of Welsh-Ryan is starting early because NU is throwing up some bricks. They are 4-14 from the floor.

Illinois, meanwhile, made three straight bunnies as they were able to get the ball all alone under the rim. You can fall asleep on a big man once...maybe twice...but three straight times.

As soon as Brown came in the game shifted to illinois.

I hope that Collins can find some lineup without Lindsey that works together. I'd be playing with Law more at 2 and Tap and Lump splitting time at 3. Hopefully someone gets it going here.

Fine, Lindsey is out. Is Collins' only answer really to hand the ball to Brown and have him go iso? This offense is unspeakably bad right now.

Ugh...This is ugly. I can't watch anymore. I'll check the score later.

One thing I always have believed in while living here in CT and watching UCONN is that, all else equal, the cream rises to the top. As a whole, we still do not quite have the pure basketball and athletic talent of other teams. Therefore, as the season goes on, and other teams learn to play together and learn our system, it gets harder for us. We play a system that is not dissimilar from other teams, so while I still think we have a lot of intangible advantages, I think we have to be realistic.

BMac is 0 for 8 from the floor and the Cats are shooting 28 percent. Remarkably, they're only down 2.

Skelly is showing real toughness. That airball was infuriating, but he's gotten some good rebounds and that steal and fast break was great stuff.

Brown belongs on the bench. Let the guy drive to the hoop and stood flat footed , did not block out .

you are way too negative on Brown. this team, especially without Lindsey, needs guys who can actually score.

My sense is Illinois regularly underperforms despite the overall superior talent they have. I blame a lot of that on Groce. I like our chances in the second half.

As badly as we played in the 1st half, we are tied. Good sign for us, and the Illini have not been a good second half team, particularly on the road.

Brown can't score on these 6:6 or 6:8 guys for Illinois, and he is dead to rights on defense! Ash is much better than both Brown and Mac on defense! Sure those two can break the press better, but Illinois is not pressing! Mac and Ash bring the ball up,isolate Mac so he can use his superior passing and decision making skills! Mac is the best offensive player out there, but needs a breather. Only have Law and Taphorn and Mac shoot from outside
