I think if the Cats do a decent job defending Carr, they’ll be in pretty good shape against a Gopher team without Robbins and Kalscheur.

Can someone explain to me why no one ever cuts to the basket when Ryan Young draws that double and sometimes triple team on the block? No one is ever open for him. I don't understand how that's possible. Our guys don't move at all. Is that by design??

I think it’s by design. Isolation on left block and let him go to work. 0 for 2 so far.

weird lineup out of that TO.
Weirder now with Gaines the nominal 4....

I think it’s just the shock of seeing the ball in the low post. Deer in the headlight kind of thing

If I were to tell you that after 8 minutes of play, Ryan Greer would have 100% of NU’s points...

this is exactly what you’d expect.

This game has left me in a zen state. I can't even get worked up over this because it is so bad.

I realize we don't have any seniors. But we're not that young. We have guys who have played a lot of minutes in their careers. And they still look like crap. I still really think it's coaching. We don't have the kind of athletes and skilled players to play the quasi-NBA style that Collins and his former NBA assistant want to play. This program needs a solid college coach.

There are no more excuses this is just not a good team and the talent is not that good when you think the fact that Minnesota is missing two of their best players

“After a drought like that usually John Mellancamp and Neil Young usually show up for a concert.”

Minnesota shouldn’t let Pitino fly home if they lose today. Taking your foot off the gas by sitting your best player in Carr is a very Northwestern move. They didn’t put this game out of reach and as putrid as we’ve been, I think our defense keeps us in it.

They're missing two of their best players, they're playing badly (3/11 from deep, 7 turnovers), and they're still comfortably ahead. Not good.

Anthony Gaines is single-handedly keeping us in this game.

The next time I see one of our guys box somebody out will be the first.

I really enjoyed Shon’s analysis mid-half on how Buie had Kopp open but his off-target pass contributed to a shot miss. Boo missed Kopp on the final play of the half, then threw errant to Nance. Boo’s got to be better.

Minnesota is missing their two best players, but NU sat theirs for all but about five minutes. Let’s see a solid second half from Chase...

Young does a pretty good job of that at times. We won our last game on a Young offensive rebound, and he had another nice one this game.
We get rebounds, but we don't necessarily box out to get them. In fairness, I think its kind of dying art in college basketball. Guys think they can just outleap everyone for the rebound. But our guys shouldn't think like that.

Young definitely boxed out for his offensive rebound. He fought for the inside position. He's not out-leaping everyone.
