We've got a very early tip time at 5:30 pm CT tonight for the second go-round between the Cats and Spartans.

In the first meeting, Boo Buie was the big hero for NU, scoring 26 points off the bench as the Cats were able to keep things close in a 77-72 loss to then-No. 15 MSU last month at Welsh-Ryan. NU had a 10-0 run in the second half to make things interesting but never really threatened the Spartans.

Tonight, against an MSU team in a first-place tie with Illinois and in the house of horrors that is the Breslin Center, let's just say I don't feel very good about NU's chances.

As if playing MSU at the Breslin Center wasn't tough enough, NU turned the ball over three times and missed a couple bunnies in the first few minutes.

It's 11-2 MSU at 15:55. Could be a long night.

Let's see...NU is shooting 25%, is getting outrebounded 11-4, committed five turnovers and went 6:30 without a point?

Sounds like a typical Northwestern-Michigan State game.

Just like that, NU is back in it.

Kopp finally gets on the scoresheet with a 3 and NU is on a 13-2 run to get to within 18-15. MSU hasn't scored in more than four minutes.

Down 26-20 and playing okay. Going to be tough to keep it close.

Story of the season so far. Down 26-22 then a few bounces go the other way and suddenly down 33-22 at halftime.

Nance seems to be a total liability on the floor doesn't add much on offense or defense
