Well deserved, starts with Collins. But hey, he has a great recruiting class coming in...
Who would have thought Kopp would forget how to shoot? Or Buie and Beran would lose all confidence? Hard not to be disappointed in the players; but, I’m sure they are more disappointed in themselves than we are about them. Need to keep supporting them and their coach, who is not the cause of their problems.
I don’t think that post means what you think it means.
We’re either forcing Purdue to be sloppy or lucky we’re in it so far, take your pick.
So why do you sit Buie when we’re trying to get his confidence back and he just hit 2 threes and another if there weren’t a foul on the screen...????
Part of a Head Coaches job is to know the personality of his players and help figure out ways to get individual players out of slumps and confidence issues. Collins and staff have failed miserably so far this season when it comes to that.
Yes; I guess they forgot all they learned to motivate a team to get to the tourney for the first time in history.

At least Collins himself, most times, doesn’t.
What coaches blame players? It’s a sure-fire way to lose their confidence. These kids know they are not performing to their own and the coaches’ expectations. And they are the ones playing the game, after all. (And yet they surprised a lot of followers with their grit this half).
So often the excuse is we can’t make open shots. Today we are 7-14 from 3. And we are still down at the half.
Just by 3. Because, like you said, Audige got hot. And Buie, for a minute, did too. Praying for players to get hot is not a recipe for winning games.

Amazing he went from a 10 min guy to a huge deal he has 3 fouls. Commentators agree it’s a big deal. Yet we had him warming the bench for at least 1/2 the season
I’ve been focused on NU’s defense today and I got to say that Nu’s defensive fundamentals are terrible. Their footwork, positioning and angles on defense are awful. This is coaching. Most good HS teams in the Chicago area have better defensive fundamentals than what I am seeing today from NU.
That’s a big reason why we were always so much better on defense with Young/Nance on the court or even Young/Nance/Beran that we used a lot last year. You get beaten off the dribble, allow dum cuts, etc. But sometimes are bailed out by long stretched arms around the basket.
There is no doubt today’s starting line up is a more balanced unit than the usual starting line up. Having said that, the problems go well beyond playing time decisions. The more I watch the more doubts I have about collins as a Coach. He may be able to recruit but I think he is lacking in a lot of other areas.
It’s getting to Collins. He is frustrated and starting to feel the pressure. You can see it in his sideline demeanor. You’d never see Fitz with the body language Collins is exhibiting today.
How many games do you want to attribute to bad luck? At some point you have to acknowledge you are what your record says you are.
