It is true, other topics are winning today.
However, I cannot say I am surprised by the lack of buzz for this game.
Any takers on the # of fans that make the trip?
There is a Dallas UofL alumni chapter. Hopefully, those guys, how ever how many, represent us well.I’d guess we will sell 3500 tickets
That seems lofty but I'm unsure how many tickets we normally sell to a low tier bowl like this and I'm unsure what it means to "sell" a ticket in your context. To me...just off the top of my head this seems like a game that only a very narrowly focused group of UofL fans will travel to attend.I’d guess we will sell 3500 tickets
I'm leaning towards agreeing with you. As the poster above mentioned plane tickets and the entire travel process is a real pain in the %@$ these days also. A drive down the freeway for 1-2 hours would have been a better pitch for fans for sure, regardless of opponent. That seems lofty but I'm unsure how many tickets we normally sell to a low tier bowl like this and I'm unsure what it means to "sell" a ticket in your context. - A group of football fans still supporting the coach
- A group of football fans who still believe in the coach with not just disposable income, but more like "money to waste" with the cost of travel and to an absolutely unexciting location.
- A group of football fans still supporting the coach, with money to waste and are willing to travel to see a meaningless game.
This seems like a game that will be filled with players families, athletic department families and those who can travel on the schools dime or at a severely discounted rate. I would imagine the number of actual football fans with no personal connection to the athletic department will be tiny.
Maybe I'm overthinking it and maybe I'm being pessimistic.
Yeah I mean I can’t imagine a family or even just a couple paying close to $1,000 per plane ticket and flying to Fort Worth Texas in December to watch a 6-6 football team with an athletic department in flames play a team nobody cares about in a meaningless game that’s embarrassing to lose and absolutely nothing to win.I'm leaning towards agreeing with you. Pretty much, yeah.Yeah I mean I can’t imagine a family or even just a couple paying close to $1,000 per plane ticket and flying to Fort Worth Texas in December to watch a 6-6 football team with an athletic department in flames play a team nobody cares about in a meaningless game that’s embarrassing to lose and absolutely nothing to win.
This is a horrible matchup and horrible game all around.Air Force will be a tough game...they are predictable, but hard to stop...not bad D either. We'll probably be 3pt dogs.
No, take all that out of the equation and just look at it as basically a scrimmage game or practice against another team other than yourself. That’s what it amounts to.This is a horrible matchup and horrible game all around.
Aside from the fact that I think all bowls are meaningless this is just a worst case scenario for the Louisville football program and for fans. If we lose to Air Force its not going be "embarrassing" per-say but its kinda going to be embarrassing. If we beat Air Force? Yeah we should, we're an ACC team and they're a one dimensional service academy.
Watching a game where one team legitimately does not want to pass and another team that leans heavy into the run is just going to be a terrible game to watch. There's going to be like 25 total pass attempts in this game and 90 combined rushing attempts.
I am too man. I don't take **** for granted. We are lucky these guys go out every week and take the punishment to play a game we get to watch and critique. Ups and downs.Anyone who likes "3 yards and a cloud of dust" football, here is your game of the century. Actually I'm looking forward to it. I think these "meaningless" bowl games are fun, especially for the non-star guys who are thrilled to play in a bowl game and give their all.
These bowl games are part of college football tradition. I know there are more than there used to be, and it feels kind of watered down, but we are playing a service academy in a bowl honoring first responders. That's a big deal. Plus, the extra practices are huge for a young team like ours. I'll try to watch every one of these "meaningless" bowls. This is a horrible matchup and horrible game all around.

Jeezzz, I long for the days when we were thrilled with a bowl bid. I went to all of them. They meant something to us fans who helped get us from the Missouri Valley Conference and the old Fairgrounds Cardinal stadium, to the ACC and Cardinal Stadium.
One whining fan says he's 22 years old and "expects better". We all do, but it ain't easy

We were 7-5 and 18 points away from being 11-1 (sound familiar?) Our only "bad" loss was to #16 Oklahoma by 21. But we got a bowl and were damned happy about it.
Our meaningless bowl was Dec 30 Humanitarian Bowl, Boise Idaho temperature inversion socked it in and was the second coldest game I ever attended. Memphis being the first. (Detroit may have been colder outside but it was in the Dome thank goodness)
We lost to Boise 34-31. To make it worse, the charter flight home had to abort the takeoff about halfway down the runway due to to an engine alarm. That caused some tense moments but it was a faulty alarm.
I wouldn't have missed these bowls because I was there from the start. Now I'm getting old, and I honestly feel like I've earned the right to pick what games I'm going to.
But some of these young guys on here really piss me off. They can't be bothered with "meaningless" bowl games. It's not good enough for them. They were born into Cardinal Stadium and seen Orange Bowls and Sugar Bowls.
I've had my fun, and seen a lot of places due to meaningless bowl games.
Too bad some of you probably won't because nothing short of a FF is good enough for you today. You just want to ***** about what may very well never be instead of going, enjoying, and having a good time at what it is.
Times change, but I'd like to go back and do it all those meaningless bowls again...![]()
The only bowl game I've been to was the Motor City Bowl back in 1998/99 (can't remember), Chris Redman vs Chad Pennington. It was the Cards back on their way up, got beat pretty badly IIRC but it was fun.
Your flight home story made me turn green. I'd probably **** myself if an alarm started going off as we rolled down the runway. YIKES.
