Fitz actually thought we could win

Listen, Im not saying purdue is an unbeatable or great team but we were never going to beat them.
But Fitz thinking that we are a decent team leaves me wondering if its just coachspeak or maybe he should get some peers or professionals like roni to counsel him.

I admire his belief but it simply does harm to the program by not following the data.

Could have been a close game. I only sow the FG block on replay but the old adage is that it's the kicker's fault if blocked at LOS. Then the laughable comment from announcer that it was "decision time" for Fitz on 4th and 10 from the 30. I believe there was one other fourth down in range of a really good kicker.

I can't say FG kicking has cost us a single game this year, but there were so many backbreaking misses and so many where Fitz went for it on 4th in FG range.

What do you mean? By not giving Fitz an option to go for points, our trusty kicker forced Fitz into going for it on 4th down all the time. That affects game strategy, etc if you know you can't hit anything 30 yards +. The young kid that handles kickoffs should have been given a shot. We might have another W or two if we had a reliable FG kicker.

I agree. I have a question for you Turk. Every so often you mention a Ned who seems to give you inside info. Is he part of the football operations/ athletic department?

Anyone who imagines sausage on a pizza as the Rocky Mountains is capable of conjuring up most anything.

I think you and I are in violent agreement. A really good kicker (see my James McCourt comment above) keeps us in a number of games and maybe wins them. Our kicker is like 2-8 in P5 games. Let's say a good kicker makes 4 more of them and also Fitz doesn't go for it on 4th and 20 because he actually has a kicker. We might have won Duke and Iowa, and been a lot closer in games like today.

How did Kuhbander get so bad? I don't remember him being this poor last year. For Pete's sake let the back up kicker give it a go. What do we have to lose?

CK may be very good in practice but when the lights are on for real he has struggled mightily. To force an offense that is challenged to begin with to constantly go for it on 4th down is not a good scenario. To change what should be a one score game to a two score game puts even more pressure on the offense. That is Fitz’s decision so he has to own it.If Olsen isn’t any better than CK that’s another position for the portal we have to look at.

Ned is not part of the football operations. He is someone i met and keep up with from the wilson club. He is a big donor and inner circle of the wine and cheese club. Never going to have the stadium named after him but he most certainly is in the NU hof of giving.

Not an inside the huddle guy, but a sideline pass type of guy who loves our teams.
