I almost felt sorry for Illinois until I saw this post from the Illinois Rivals board in reference to an article entitled: "Illini look to end 13-game losing streak to Wisconsin"...

"Wow. That headline hurts. I knew it was bad but not that bad. We are their Northwestern."

I won’t be satisfied, or consider them “down and out,” until NU starts really beating them for recruits. I look at their roster, with Aaron Jordan, Kipper Nichols and Ayo Dosunmu and can’t help but think they could have been Cats.

They also usually give NU a tough game. Still mad we lost to them twice in the Tourney year.

Yeah, the road game at Assembly Hall, like every other conference game, will be huge. But in addition to getting a crucial B1G home win, a season sweep of U of I would be doubly great.

(sorry for the tangent to follow) Btw we've discussed this a bit before, but we should play them 2x every year. It wouldn't be hard for the schedule makers to work in. 1x2, then 12 other teams x 18. Just alternate with 6 2x and 6 1x every other year, plus your rival twice.

NU - U of I
Mich-MSU
Neb-Iowa
Wisc-Minn
Purdue-Indy
OSU-Md
PSU-Rutgers

Which...... wait I knew MSU Mich played 2x late this year and that made me curious. So I just searched through all the B1G schedules, and every single one of the matchups I just quoted is doubled up home and away. Is it possible that this is now a thing, and either the B1G has added that quietly or else they announced it when scheduling and I didn't notice? Or just random happenstance...

it's better for TV, I'm sure the conf / networks would love having 2x Mich-MSU and Indiana-Purdue every year. Even the other matchups should all be somewhat better than average draw for their respective teams.

Kipper probably would have been had the Wildcat Internship Program served its purpose

It's funny, we're 8-8 since the 2009-10 season, a decade with five different coaches between the two teams. That must really stick in their craw.

Part of the 20-game schedule is protected rivalries so Indiana-Purdue, NU-Illini, Mich-MSU will always play twice from now on as I understand it.

AD wasn;t coming here with the business of AAU
NU did not recruit Jordan

I watch what I say very carefully on Doug Buchon's board. Very carefully.

I haven't trolled the 247 Illinois board because the program has become too pathetic lately. The situation there has been horrible for years now. I only post when someone delusional like ThaKid surfaces and posts their nonsense, so expect a post soon because he's back (as Illinoisman39).

I still see the mildcats references every once in a while, but I agree they are pathetic
