My wife and I were at the game. It's going to be a long day at work today.
I stayed up to watch the whole thing. Drinking beer the whole time. Long day coming up for me as well.
Hockey OTs are rough because you never know how long they will be - 1 minute or several hours. For me anyway, I never want to watch 2 or 3 OTs and then go to bed without seeing the deciding goal; it just seems like time wasted then. So I try to determine immediately at the end of regulation whether I'm in for the duration or if Morpheus wants me right away.
So what was it like going through that entire game and being on ‘high alert’ for 4 periods? The PA guy apologizing to the fans after the horn of the 3rd OT was amusing. It also sounded like an empty arena during stoppages when they were playing music.
It stopped being "fun" after the first overtime. I am a Hurricanes fan and it just didn't seem like they were going to score again so it was just a matter of time until the Panthers scored. Combine that with the fact it was getting later and later on Thursday night, more and more people were leaving.
Did that for the flyers 5 OT game a little while back.
Started drinking like it would be a normal game - 2 2/3 games later it wasn’t a pretty site
