Lakeland HS in Lakeland Florida had 5 Power 5 signees. Now wait for the schools:
Clemson, Florida, Georgia, Auburn and Oklahoma. Thats more than the State of WV not counting the quality of schools. BTW Lakeland was state champs last year but not this year.

Once again the best recruit for WVU comes from Maryland.

The DMV is where it is at.

The end of the Black Belt is Maryland. Plus there isn't a big time school in the area. No one has capitalized on the talent yet.
I said the same thing about the Carolinas before Clemson.

To me
1) DMV
2) Georgia

Much easier to get top tier talent. Less schools.

You do know the difference between Florida kids and players who play HS football in Florida.

Clemson has expanded their recruiting base recently.

There was always enough talent in North and South Carolina to build a Top 10/5 football team.
Mack Brown did it his first time at UNC

Now Clemson has done this by getting the top talent out of both states.

Back to my point.
If a school can get the best 5 out of 10 players from the DMV consistently they could build a team capable of being Top 10/5 as well.

Those are your words. Clemson didn’t pull much talent out of SC this cycle.

USC got the best recruits from SC, not Clemson.

You don’t know what your talking about.

Look at their roster

One year doesn't establish the norm.
Clemson is at the point where they are a national recruiter

But they weren't that program in 2011-2016

43 SC players on Clemson roster
51 SC players on USC team

Clemson - 2 from California 1 from Texas. The rest within their recruiting area.

USC - 3 from Texas 1 from California.

Clemson a national recruiter. Your freaking funny.

You are proving my point in the beginning.

Add the players from NC as well.

Now Clemson is trying to recruit nationally. They missed out on a few players but they are trying to recruit the entire country.

Did up read what I originally posted

There always should have been a powerhouse program in the Carolinas.
Enough talent there.

Clemson is lucky enough to have access to Georgia as well but in North and South Carolina you have enough talent to build a Top 5/10 program

My point on the DMV....

WVU should be the school who takes advantages of the talent and the fact that there isn't a big time program there.

If WVU would get the top 5 out of 10 players every year they could have enough to be a Top 5/10 program and complete in the Big 12.

So DMV should the #1 area WVU recruits
Supplement this with Georgia and then Ohio, PA and NJ you could create a powerhouse.

West Virginia is on an island, surrounded by ACC, and B1G programs. They need to be able to pull from Pennsylvania, Florida and Ohio, but that is going to be tough with them being in the Big 12. The conference should add UCF, Cincy, Memphis, and USC to help. Houston wouldn't be a bad choice either, but there are already too many Texas schools in the league. West Virginia would do well to have a few companion schools close by. Playing in Ohio, and Florida would help them establish a footprint. Playing Pittsburgh gets them into Pennsylvania.

They already have a footprint. They just have to maximize it.

I do think doing what Kentucky does could help.
That is getting the players in Ohio that Ohio State doesn't want.
Ohio State leaves a lot of talent because they want to recruit nationally.
PA? Has seen better days. New Jersey has much more talent.

They have to recruit players that fit into the Big 12.
That is in the DMV.

WVU isn't on an island and should be able to recruit against anyone in the region
Anyone who tells you different has no clue what they are talking.about.

WVU has a better name than Pitt right now.
Is a much better program and is in a much better conference.

WVU doesn't need Pitt. Pitt needs WVU.

The upcoming games against Maryland are more important.

WVU did just fine with the little amount of time they have had. WVU is still playing catch up.

Dana had the right mindset in regards to the DMV.
He thought that WVU had the chance to be a big time player there.

This should always be the mindset at WVU.

If WVU is going to win in the Big 12 it will be because it can recruit Maryland, DC and Virginia at a high level.
