I don't know how often you've seen PSU play this year, but despite their record they are certainly capable of beating NU if the Cats don't start putting the ball in the basket. Maybe the home court will help.

I just mean we’ll be favored. That’s all.

A win over a Penn State team that is definitely worse than us won’t do much for my hopes.

Via our good friend KenPom:

Offensive efficiency in conference games:

NU 91.7 (13th)
PSU 91.0 (14th)

Defensive efficiency in conference games:

NU 103.3 (8th)
PSU 103.2 (T-6th)

We're basically the same team in B1G games, we just have 3 wins to show for it and they have 0.

I have already flushed this season. KenPom projects 3 wins in last 10 games, 16-15 record. That is not going to get an NIT bid. But a KenPom projection is not why I don’t bother watching NU games anymore. This team is simply unwatchable. It’s one thing to have a mediocre record — it’s another to be mediocre and bad offensively.

We play great defense and play hard. But we are in the polar vortex of cold shooting and eventually the dam bursts and Wisc/MD pulled away. Missing shots is deflating.

He is not ready for more than 5-10 minutes per game. D getting better but still not there.

Why? Because we might lose?

This is a rebuild season, like it or not. Law and Pardon have been great warriors. It was nice that Taylor chose us.

But the future is Greer, Kopp and Nance. We need to get Turner more time playing the two. We need to give Falzon court time and hope to convince him to stay on another year.

Taylor should be the sixth man, at best. I think there should be two starting lineups - one at tip and one for second half. And start playing for next year.

I would like to see a bunch of Greer, Turner, Kopp, Falzon and Benson time. It can’t get worse than losing but they can gain experience and learn how to play together and improve. That’s what we need. That and another studly recruit and a strong grad transfer or two.

The problem is, Benson is a foul machine and can't stay on the floor. Last night for example, he played 8 minutes and had 3 fouls. Ugh. Falzon has chronic knee issues and probably maxes out at 20 minutes per game. Nance won't be a factor the rest of the season.....we saw 2 years ago how long it took Scottie to get back in the groove after his bout with mono. Turner must be hurt or sick, he played the fewest minutes he has played all season. Yes, playing the young guys gives them experience, but do you risk shattering their confidence when NU gets their doors blown off against bigger, better B1G teams?

We play to win. Season ain’t over, NIT is very possible, we need to build a winning mindset and culture and it’s much easier to recruit 4 stars off 6-8 big ten wins rather than 3-4.

Is there any proof of this? Because at some point losing is losing and not making the tourney is not making the tourney. A few wins, I feel, matters more to overly invested fans than in reality.

With all the flushing activity this season, I’m tempted to mount a flat screen TV directly across from the toilet so I can watch and flush simultaneously without needing to walk over to the bathroom.

Those are some rough numbers. 91.7 in conference games! That's poor. Should probably take the under on Monday...

Yup, Turner confirmed playing injured.
