It isn't good or bad. This case was always going to be resolved in Circuit Court. I guess there is potential that a grand jury could return a no true bill, but that is typically rare.

Happens all the time. Good move by the defense in this case imo.

I'm not a lawyer, but this is normal. It will probably extend beyond the Grand Jury as well. GJ is just a chance for the prosecution to present the facts to a jury. The jury can then either drop the charges, change them to more appropriate charges, or keep them the same. GJ is not a chance for the defendant/defense to address the charges, most of the time. The GJ could ask to hear from the defense, but it's normally just for the prosecution.

Not unusual,some defense attorneys use the prelim as a "fishing expedition" to find out what they can about the case.

Completely normal.

Only twice have I not waived preliminary hearing. Both times I was dead certain my clients were innocent. One resulted in district court dismissing charges and other was sent on but no true bill returned. 99% are waived.
