...UBER or Lyft sometimes, do you ever get a driver who won’t shut up?

The last 4-5 times I’ve taken an UBER, the driver thinks he has to talk nonstop.

You can’t be a jerk and tell him/her to shut up, but when you reply with minimal words, shouldn’t they get the hint?

Took Uber about 4 times on a recent trip to Miami and none of them would hardly speak a word. One of them was an attractive blonde.

You could try the Elaine idea of being hard of hearing

I have only used these services 4-5 times but in every instance the driver wanted to tell me his life story.
This is what I’m talking about.

The problem is if you tell them you don’t feel like taking, they’ll likely give you bad rating.

It’s hard to tell someone nicely that you don’t want to hear their life story.

Yes in rare situations I have found that it works to shut people up if you ramble on and give them a dose of their own medicine. You can see the submission in their eyes when I know that you just want me to stfu, I Am an expert at politely getting away so as not to come off as an ******* but In a car that’s tough your options are limited

How about putting your phone up to your ear and just blurt out random things like yeah...uh huh...okay... to go along with a sentence or two? Surely they would leave you be while you are pretending to be on the phone.

I drive for Uber and Lyft occasionally. It's generally pretty easy to tell within the first 45 seconds or so if a passenger wants to talk or not. If they don't want to I won't converse with them.
