I clicked on this thread, even though I’m NOT old. 😆

I just checked and it seems I’ve been on this site just one month short of 20 years. Yikes! Of course my total time is more like 28 years. I started out on Wildcat Chat. That site run by Steve, Babs, Darrell and Keith. Not sure how many folks remember that. I think that site changed ownership a couple times until it wound up here.

Got on this one in 2002 but was on old site before that for several years. I can't remember exactly but had to re join or something and caused the New join date of 2002.

I think so. I think some of those folks are on the KY Sports Report…if that site still exists. I haven’t checked lately.

I was on the original Wildcats Lair when it was owned by a husband and wife. That was literally at the beginning of when the internet became common use and was the wild wild west. You could find just about anything out there at that time. I AM getting old.

Still pissed about losing a few years on my registration after a computer crash. It says I've been around since 2003, but I know it is a lot longer than that. I remember having to log into the site (or its predecessor) with a dial tone at the Gatton school of business in '96 ish. Da*n. Now I do feel old!

Do you ever look at your entry date here on this board...2003 (ME) and do the math and say...WTH? Damn I'm old? Just curious.
August 2001 and before that I was CrumsBaldSpot but my password got messed up during a transition and I had to recreate it. So I am thinking 98-99.

I started out on the LHL forums I think around 1996, and have also been at the Microtek, Wildcat Chat, Wildcat Faithful, Lair, Catpaw, Kentucky Sports Report and now Cat Illustrations since 2003.
Was on all of those also. I remember dialing up that internet on AOL curious to see why folks like Jeff Drummond and Mel (WCC) - RIP had to say.

Speaking of old, that was before apps and smartphones. You literally had to wait until you got home from your job/school and sign-on from a personal computer while hoping no one tried to use the land line phone..

Anyone remember the old CNNSI boards? Talk about a cesspool. A bit different than the one here though. This place has been rendered damn near unreadable by the political loonies, but CNNSI was good entertainment in the mid-late 90s. No political wingnuts to hijack every thread. Just good, old-fashioned rivalry ****-talking, with maybe some personal threats and a couple dox's mixed in. Even the systems operator quit moderating it and joined into the ****-throwing himself.

Even before posting on the Wildcat Chat site, my first go ‘round on a basketball discussion forum was on Hoop Scoop dot com. Must have been about 1993 or 94? Saw it advertised on the back of the old Cats’ Pause news paper. That forum was open to fans of all teams, and most users picked a screen name that identified their team and their location. I did the same, and just kept the same user name when I moved on to UK only sites.

I was also a regular on Wildcat Faithful until its demise before migrating here and Ky Sports Report. It was a simpler time then.

And when you clicked on another web page, you could go put some laundry on, take a shower or fix something to eat and maybe when you got back the page would be loaded.

I think that was the board I was one when we came from 17 down to beat Dook, and there was some dude (can't remember what team he was a fan of) who had been talking **** the entire game but lost his mind in a profanity laced tirade when we came back for the win.

My registration on this site is one of the first 20 people or so in the entire network because I transferred over from AllianceSports where I was one of the first handful of official content contributors for a team site in 1996. Was involved with some other sites before that …going back to the early 90’s.

”The World's First Network of College Team and Recruiting Sites. The forerunner of Rivals.com, AllianceSports became an Internet sports pioneer, establishing the very first premium subscription-based network of college team and recruiting sites.

Along with the first national prospect database in 1996, AllianceSports established a precedent by providing in-depth daily college sports and recruiting coverage that was unmatched on the Internet and in traditional media outlets. The quality of information published on a daily basis and the rapidly growing message board communities established AllianceSports as one of the Internet's fastest growing sports media properties and "stickiest" sites.”

This is like the 4th or 5th generation of UK message boards since dialup. AOL and something else I can’t recall because I’ve been on them for too many years started it for me. Heard that ding, ding, ding, boing, boing, boing way too many times not to count the wasted loading time.

Wanna bet? Folks, believe me when I tell you it isn't going to happen!! Pitino is going to be at Kentucky for as long as he continues to coach. You can look for these things to happen:

1) Pitino will sign a new long term contract with UK for an annual sum greater then the annual budgeted outlays for the entire system of higher education in Kentucky. (according to published reports, with the new Nike contract, he will be making in excess of 3.5 million next year at UK)

2) UK will announce the groundbreaking for the new Pitino coliseum which will be on campus, seat 40,000, complete with luxury sky boxes, etc.

3) Pitino will announce the Rick Pitino book of the month club, to which the entire population of the Commonwealth will subscribe within the first 24 hours.

Seriously, you NBA guys can dream on, as well as you guys from rival schools. Pitino and Kentucky are going to continue to do just what they've been doing since RP arrived in Lexington--DOMINATE!!!!

University of Kentucky: NCAA Champions 1996
NCAA Runner-Up 1997

Coached by Rick Pitino (The New Jersey Nets? Boston Celtics? Golden State Warriors? Miami Heat? Los Angeles Lakers? No way, folks!!!)

I vividly remember being on there in 1997 because there were a few ******* Arizona fans that we feuded with during the season. So that was a rough loss to take. I'm sure I was on there in 98 but don't recall any banter that year. I know U of L psycho MeccaCards was around because he melted down when he got doxxed and threatened to sue everyone. There was some crazy **** that went down on those boards.

I changed my username in 2007 and that is my official sign up date now. I was on 5 or 6 years before that but seldom posted as most of my time was spent on Wildcat Faithful. Then Mel died and that was the end of that for me.
