Glad to see we will be able to have a golf thread to contemplate all things golf. Signing in under a new name. Formerly WMTM. I will let egr set up the Fore thread.

You all are quicker than I am. Here are screenshots from the old FORE thread so you all can pick up from there.

Can you please capitalize the thread title? It's going to drive me crazy after looking at the other one for half a dozen years, haha.

So I joined for the $1 - gotta figure out what to do moving forward. I do actually use Paramount Plus that came with the 247 subscription, but would be tough to justify keeping that and paying for this. At least will get to talk golf for a couple months and figure it out.

I played a couple weeks ago at Southcreek at Myrtle Beach National. Shot a 50 on the front...was bad. Back 9 I had a 42 including at birdie on the par 5 16th. Hit a ~290 drive, then a ~200 3 wood to about 15 feet. That was my first eagle look in years, just slipped by for a tap in birdie. I also birdied 18 after sinking a ~30 footer or so. Felt like quitting golf after the front 9, and now can't stop thinking about a next round after the back.

I can sympathize with Lucas Glover after watching that video of that short putt and for that very reason is why I have been using a long putter for over 20 years. I'm sure that is why he switched as well.

This is a free board. You'll still be able to use it, just not the TTP or BB Premium.

Anyone following the Junior PGA that Charlie Woods entered the final round today at T2? Top 2 get a Junior Ryder Cup spot.

He's E thru 4 and is now T4. The kid in first is still running away with the thing, but the kid in 2nd is from Pilot Mountain. Kid named Pennson Badgett. Anyone know of him? I wonder what club he plays out of up that way.

I'm following it Pine, I'm rooting hard for him. Still a long shot that he becomes an upper level pro but I'm a fan.

Well, that was weird. I'm back guys. I am in Maine for a wedding. Played yesterday, It was 65. Love it.

I'd also like to recommend that if Egr does join, we lock this thread and let him start one, not because I have anything against OP, but so that he can edit the original if needs be.

He shot one of the highest scores of the day (+3) and finished T9.

Yes but I just titled it golf originally with the intention of egr2teup starting the official thread. Mods combined my thread with someone elses

The NLU interview with Ben Griffin was very good and definitely worth a listen. Really sharp and self-aware guy who had a lot more personality than I realized. Great insight into how hard it is for golfers trying to make it in the professional world and how much easier it is once you get a win or two.

I'm a big fan of NLU. Letting go of KVV really bummed me out, though. The special podcasts he had recently started doing for them - specifically the sounds of the Masters one - were fantastic. His impersonations of Seve, etc. during the major deep dives were hilarious too.

That was a major gut punch, and not even necessarily because I'll miss his standalone content. I enjoyed the Masters thing and some other things he's done, but I only have the bandwidth for so many podcasts in my life so I usually just didn't get to them. I'd love to listen to Trap Draw, for instance, but I never have because I don't have time.

The real issue was you start to think of these guys like friends and family of you and each other, and it was like they alienated one of their family members. He had great chemistry with everyone and brought a lot to the podcasts, particularly the Major live shows when he was often the only one at the event.

I'm not sure what to make of why they made the decision. It seemed like a purely business decision where they needed to cut his hours for financial reasons and he chose full-time employment. It's just surprising because they've been steadily adding employees the last few years. Maybe they weren't getting much juice out of the writing, but they didn't do much to promote or market it, either. KVV should have been writing a newsletter for them a couple of times a week like The Fried Egg, Geoff Shackleford, Kyle Porter, etc. I was really surprised by the decision and agree with you that it's a loss for their brand, but we'll never know the full story.

I'm going through a similar breakup with my other favorite podcast, The Dan LeBatard Show with Stugotz. Been a tough year for me and my favorite podcasts.

Jackson Koivun is an absolute stud. I don't know the full story, but he moved from California to Chapel Hill in the middle of high school and I think they homeschooled him (i.e. let him play golf full time), but it would have been awesome if he had committed to UNC instead of Auburn.
