Another 2 star recruit that doesn't have the 4/5 star GLORY being predicted to make a difference.

If memory serves...wasn't there a good amount of late interest on this guy from other schools right before signing day? See to recall the University of UL went after him

I don't put a ton of stock into how he dominated the competition (lower A division in Georgia). That said, I've also been high on him since we picked him up.
It's incredibly rare that a DE comes right out of high school at 6'4, 275 pounds with the kid of speed and explosiveness that he has. Plays with a nasty motor too. I'm more than thrilled to have him on the team, and I can absolutely see him being an immediate impact guy.

Even if not an immediate impact guy, his foundation for development looks very promising.

Would love to redshirt both carter and looney along with cross! I have not seen or heard much about cross, but looney and carter can make a impact in the sec in the future!!
Those 2 along with k Daniels and middleton, hopkins will be a upgrade in what we put out there the past few years.. Hopefully we add a few more.

P.S. I have a feeling our front 7 will be better than expected this year!!
I thought C.J had the opportunity to blow up last year and he took advantage of his opportunity.. Think we have some potential this year, maybe not like cj. But we have some guys that could suprise if they develope like the should! JMO..

This kid may not have impressed the analysts, but I remember him being received with high praise by most of the members here at this forum. We probably got a steal here. It happens. Not all 2 stars outperform their ranking. But many do. If memory serves, Jeremy Jarmon was himself a 2 star recruit. But he ended up being one of UK's best defensive linemen. I'll take a coach with an eye for talent over some internet website scout analyst any day of the week. Rich Brooks was pretty good at finding diamonds in the rough. I think this coaching staff has some of that ability too.

I will be very surprised if TJ doesn't turn into an all SEC performer. Can't teach size and athleticism. Add to that a motor and mean streak. Another awesome job of this staff evaluating talent. The future is bright for UK football.

Jarmon wasn't just a two star, he was a 5.2 two star. Could have had a GREAT senior season with Peters sharing the double teams (Peters got almost all of them without Jarmon) if the stupid NCAA hadn't made him ineligible for the entire year for an honest mistake, but he was still drafted in the third round.

I agree 100% with your last two sentences, although I think you greatly understated the situation, but the difference is this staff with some real support FINALLY, is also bringing in almost our share of highly rated three and four stars. For instance Carter's class averages a 5.616 so far while Jarmon's class averaged about a 5.380, with only four three stars in the whole class..

Runs a 4.70 forty. At 250 pounds in high school, and 6'4, then what's the worst case scenario for him position-wise? WDE, rather than SDE (where he will play)? That's plenty big and fast enough for a WDE (250 pounds, that is).
I'm glad we'll have that speed and athleticism at the SDE position though. Should help the pass rush exponentially.

This is great news but I will temper my enthusiasm until practice starts and the games begin. Many guys before him have shown up looking like Tarzan but playing like Jane. I hope he is a steal.

Honest question...where are we seeing him listed at 6'4 and 275? I haven't seen that. Great news if that's the case. Was that what he showed up at this summer? thanks in advance...

Born there but was signed by UK out of Germantown HS, TN.

Because he played football at the HS in TN doesn't take away that fact he's from Kentucky.

Houston High School in Germantown, TN.

Two HS there. Germantown HS is the other one.

Never said it did. Actually those saying he's from Ky and those saying he's from Tn are both right.
