Can all of these high-rated WR prospects really be flops or are there scheme and QB development issues?
Unlike OSU that cranks out great WRs, we need 4 top prospects to develop one great WR.

It's directly tied to our offensive system, lack of running game, making the QB the focus of our running attack, and ultimately, poor QB play. I seem to remember we had quite a lot of successful WR's under joemo with Barkley in the backfield. Can't run the ball, can't throw it accurately, offense overly focused on big pass plays that never work without the threat of the run game=Not a lot of standout receivers.
Add in a lot of sub-average O-line play and limited time to throw......not a recipe for standout WR play. We just have not been very good in a little while. OSU blocks, runs, passes, protect, threatens all areas of the field, etc.
I think we've done pretty well with WR's. But IMO there was a coaching issue between Gattis and Stubblefield. I think we have a very good one in Taylor S.
but you make a valid point about some other "issues" and again I think it can go back to the changing of OC's and QB coaches.
From the reports I heard about Charles he was kind of lazy in his route running and maybe not knowing his assignment. Wasn't he in the wrong place that resulted in the final Trace INT. during the pitt game?
But he saved the game and the season with that Minny catch.
Some of the other guys like Juwan just didn't progress like we thought they would and some of the others, cough, cough, Shorter, were just overrated.
I am calling BS on Juwan, the kid had a ton of talent, and showed it on the field, I am laying that one on coaching.
his stats at Oregon were not that much different than his at PSU's. and in fact his 2017 stats at PSU were better.
JJ had two TDs at Penn State - both on the road. Kind of interesting.

There are a ton of Penn State players who are known more or less for one game, one big, big play. That was a B1G championship season, and JJ’s was one of our most memorable and important plays ever. Any way you want to slice it, it’s one hell of a legacy.and at least one was very big. Suck it Iowa.
The one player, from that time frame, I thought we would see more from and go on to have a good NFL career was Saeed Blacknall.
Irv Charles had the body of an all-pro, the physical talent of an all conference player, and the mental discipline of a 3rd grader. He was a penalty machine on special teams.
