15 points and 16 rebounds late in the game for Washington fwiw. Didn’t watch. Btw I am very happy with Williams.

Williams is a low-budget superhero, no doubt at all about that.

But we already had Williams locked up when we were in heavy talks with Osobor. It was us getting Garrison that drove Osobor off, I believe as we intended due to the $2 million he was wanting.

I prefer Williams as well. Fun to watch. He is a career 63% FT shooter so not horrendous even though he'll make us squirm in a close game.
I think it’s because of his hand size and no spin on the ball. He shoots just like Shaq did. Hopefully he can make it work. I hope they don’t hack him late in games or else Garrison will have to be in.

If I recall Osobor was coming here to play PF not Center…Williams was already in the fold So it was Carr spot vs Osobor

And the Garrison took a scholly abruptly

Somewhat of a line drive shot as well. His arms finish out more than up

I don't think it was Williams or Osobor. I think Almonor was who we added because we didn't get Osobor. May have meant less minutes for Carr, IDK. Osobor would have certainly helped our rebounding, maybe our defense. But he wouldn't have the 3pt shooting those 2 have.

That's exactly what it is. Hand size is a big deal in terms of spin on the ball.

Kind of like:

Same. I prefer Williams
It wasn’t an either/or with Williams. They could have played together. IMO Osobor was shopping himself for the highest bid and was going to join his former coach at Washington when the matched the offer . I believe Pope sensed this on Osobors visit.

Glad it worked out how it did with UK getting the 3-time defensive player of the year with Williams as a rim protector and Carr's perimeter game. I know it's one game but getting 5 assists from Garrison coming off the bench who only averaged 1.5 APG with OK State was nice to see. 6 points, 4 rebounds, 5 assists & 2 steals.

Hand size is a factor. But it does not prevent you from shooting it with good spin. He just needs to put it on his fingers, not the palm. Like when one of us shoot with one of those 8" balls, or going to an extreme with a nerf ball.
But it's not just the spin, it's as much if not more the arc. The flatter a shot you shoot, the lower your odds of making it because of the angle the ball is coming at the rim makes the rim smaller. There is a limit to that though, you don't want to shoot it with such a high arc that you lose consistency in either direction or distance. Did you know the rim is wide enough for 2 balls to go thru it at once? I used to shoot FTs for fun shooting them about 25-30' high, and could make about half of those.

That's how it went down. Trilly and other insiders started reporting we were out with Osboro while he was still in Lexington for his visit. Then Garrison called (while Osboro was in Lexington) and Pope took his commitment. It was clear he wanted too much money. The timing on everything seemed weird, but I'm pretty sure Carr committed while he was still in Philly for his Villanova visit.

I really wanted Osobor but I'm happy with how everything worked out. Williams is an elite defender and passer and I think Carr will eventually be our best all-around player.
